Fear of lifts!

Anyone else? I make myself get in them anyway if it’s the quickest way but I really dislike it, particularly the older style ones that have clearly been going for donkeys years. I have this worry of becoming stuck in one, between floors - even though it’s never happened! I also never get in them if I need a wee 😂

Does anyone else have this?

Just reading this thread is giving me palpitations!
When I was younger I used to climb 13 flights of stairs to avoid the lift at the local FE college. I can go in some nowadays such as in busy shopping centres but won't go in an old one, especially on my own.

@3luckystars I remember taking DS to a Uni open day at Leicester and them mentioning this lift. When they allocated us a student ambassador to do a guided tour, all I kept thinking was please don't let us have to go in that lift! Thankfully we didn't.

@zingally I'm the opposite to you - don't mind getting on up escalators but absolutely hate down escalators.

Yes I'm scared of them too but not as much as I used to be. I remember being in a crowded lift when I was about 8 years old and I had a drunk guy next to me. Drunk guy collapsed on top of me and I was screaming my head off, I think that's how the fear started although oddly enough I was more afraid of getting into empty as opposed to crowded lifts as I got older.

I used to have recurring dreams of being stuck in a lift on my own and the floor would drop out, leaving me balanced on a narrow ledge and trying not to topple over the edge into the abyss. Not had it in years though
