Robot mowers and kids stuff on the lawn

Anyone got a robot mower and tween boys? Our lawn is permanently covered with footballs, cricket balls, cricket bats, a football net etc. Just wondering whether a robot mower is in any way possible or will it just eat all the balls/get stuck in the football net etc? Should I give up on the idea of ever having a nice lawn until the kids leave home?

Just pick up the toys before hand or have a waterproof box outside and teach your children to tidy away their toys in the box once they're finished.

It's really not my style, I like the kids to feel they can live in the house without everything having to be tidied away every moment. A few tennis balls in the garden is absolutely worth it to make sure they feel incentivised to go outside and play sports rather than stay inside with computer games. So if a mower can't work around that, it'd be a deal breaker for me. I grew up in a 'tidy everything away at the end of playing with it' OCD house, and it definitely didn't make for a happy childhood and mostly just resulted in my spending more time at my friends less fussy houses than my own.
