Series not season

Since when did we start calling a TV series, a "season"?

It annoys me, as does much since 1999🙄🤣

It's just cos it's used for American programmes isn't it

PiggyPlumPie · 29/05/2024 17:23

I thought it was just me! I can tolerate it for US shows but definitely not UK ones!

A series isn't a season though. Take Breaking Bad as an example. The series would be all 5 seasons.

OK, I'll hold my hands up and admit and sometimes use 'season'.

Sometimes I'll use 'series'.

I have no rhyme or reason for using them both - just whatever I feel like. 😁

A series is a series and a season is a season 😄 A series can be a season, but a season is not necessarily a series

As long as no one tells me the new series or season has 'dropped'. Released/launched/debuted/aired is fine. Not bloody 'dropped'.

DrJonesIpresume · 29/05/2024 17:39

The 'new season' makes sense if it is Gardeners' World after a short break, but not much else.

Haha I have this... I just imagine someone dropping a tv and it smashing when I hear it 🤷‍♀️
