Beach with sunburn

On holiday with a group parents and kids. Unfortunately two of the kids from two different families both got a patch of sunburn in random spots two days ago - one has a burnt ankle for example. Just gaps where they've missed the cream. Lesson learnt as it has been sore.

Tomorrow we'd like to go to the beach again as a group but unsure what's best for the two kids. Obvs they'll be slathered but other than wearing one sock (!) over the burnt ankle is there anything else that can be done to help them have a day in the sun without making things worse? Thanks

A day in the sun is the worst idea for sunburn. Keep it covered up and sit in the shade or inside is really the only option

It also depends how bad it is. If it livid bright red then stay inside. If it starting to go brown and not painful probably ok to sit in the shade.

I had horrendous sunburn a few years ago. Had to go to hospital. It embarrassing but it's just one of those things. Mine happened in 20 mins on first day of hols in cloudy cool conditions. I didn't seek medical help other than pharmacy until I got home. It happens just be careful now on.

Yes you'll just have to cover the affected area. Also, if you can get aloe Vera gel from a pharmacy it really helps the burn

Thanks I'll get some aloe Vera. Hoping for shade certainly, the kids will be under umbrellas etc. And no, it's not severe sunburn, just redish pinkness. I feel sorry for them.
