Dodgy skin patch - would this worry you!?

This started appearing about 4 weeks ago and has grown in size. It's not itchy at all, just a bit crusty and dry looking which I don't think the sun helped yesterday! Just wanted opinions - does this look okay or a bit suspect?!
I'm 40, female and redhead btw! Aunt had skin cancer a few years back.

Could be psoriasis or excema? I'd get it checked out by your GP.

Definitely get it checked out by GP .Hopefully nothing but always worth getting it checked I would also suggest taking a couple of pictures with a tape measure beside it just so can compare size if you have to wait a while for appointment.
I've had a wee skin raised bit removed in the past from my face just took a couple of minutes but I'm more aware of all my skin marks now and keep an eye on them .
I'm very fair skinned and do wear high factor sun cream etc
Try not to worry

Thanks guys. Could be eczema or psoriasis, however it isn't itchy at all and I've never had it before! Will obviously get it checked.

Please get it checked.

DirtyDensDog · 28/05/2024 11:07

Yes get it checked. Go make the appointment now and then you don't have to think about it.

Lemsipper · 28/05/2024 11:07

Hi OP. I had something which looked the same which was getting bigger rapidly and it didnt itch. It was just some sort of fungal infection which clotrimazole cream cleared up.

So I wouldn’t worry but also get it checked because of family history 🫶🏽

I get (what looks like) these. They are called actinic keratoses, and are caused by the sun. There is a small chance that without treatment they can become cancerous. I get prescribed a cream called Effudix.

Killerqueenie · 28/05/2024 11:26

I would definitely get that checked out. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about, but the fact that it's growing in size and you're a redhead with a family history of skin cancer, I'd err on the side of caution and make an appointment to get it looked at.

Hey @OrlandointheWilderness just wondering how you got on with this?

OrlandointheWilderness · 30/09/2024 16:21

Hiya @NoahsTortoise - all fine! It's completely gone now. No issues at all.
