Help with dental costs

I really think I need to see a dentist, I've had a sore tooth for a few days now and it's giving me a headache and sore on side of my face (I say tooth, the pain is actually coming from where I had a tooth pulled out, and I didn't get a filling or anything, it's right at th back) I am registered with a dentist but my circumstances have changed since then. I don't work, my partner does full time and we do receive a small UC each month as a top up. Am I entitled to free dental care or NHS care? I'm worried that I can't afford to go to th dentist and pay for any treatment I might need. I'm not sure if what to do. Any advice welcome.

If your partner works then it's unlikely you will get free dental care. There have to be earnings of less than £935 ( assuming you have children on your claim) to get free dental care. It should tell you on the bottom of your latest UC statement if you qualify. If you do not work because of illness and have the LCW/ LCWRA element on your claim then the earnings threshold again is £935 even if you don't have kids on the claim.

You’re eligible for NHS dentist as everyone is, but there’s a small charge and depends if you can registered with an NHS dentist or not.

Yes if you are registered with an nhs dentist and pay, these are the charges.

Thank you. Yes my partner earns more than the 935 threshold. I was confused as when I go to get my prescriptions, the lady in boots has a small computer thing and she says "I've got you down as exempt because UC" so I didn't known if the two were the same.

If you're on low income you can fill in a HC2 form which will tell you if you get some help with the costs. The dentist will have one, or I think you can fill one in online

You need to be careful if she is giving prescriptions free, you need to be careful you don't get fines as you should not be getting them free either unless they are certain drugs that everyone gets free.

Oh I didn't realize. They've said that to me several times and I agreed that yes I do get UC and she said that I'm exempt because it's on her hand held computer thing.. I did think something was off. Oll deffo look into this and make sure.
