Hello, any paint experts, I want a very small amount of eggshell only to paint a stair runner.

I don't want huge 40 pounds tins!

Does anyone have a hack? Eg if I buy some sample pots and add something to it?

Why don’t you buy an eggshell sample pot?

@SwingingVoter@Sugarsandwiches

Do such things exist? Have you seen one: I've never seen one but my main shop is homebase

I think the majority of paint samples come in emulsion, possibly B&Q might do an eggshell sample.

I'd get on local Facebook groups or even search market place or even try the tip so see if anyone has any leftover going spare.

Or you could get a sample of chalk paint (they come in bigger sizes usually) something like fusion mineral which I found the best quality then wax over it this prevents chipping.

Thank you all!
I have fine some of research and I think Benjamin Moore does eggshell taster but they are closed.
.

Otherwise the chalk paint is a good idea.

As long as you stir very thoroughly (re-stir if you have a coffee break) you can buy cheap white eggshell and mix with samples to color including mat and silk.

Also google 'community paint centers' you may have a local one. They accept half used and unwanted paint tins and sell them on for reasonable rates.

@Elleherd thank you.

So I've got it all wrong, I thought eggshell was for wood. Apparently not it's just a type of finish.

Yes. 🙂
If you want to paint wood, you need primer first, and usually to key it by lightly sanding.
