Hello!

I’m English but have been out of the country for years now. Went traveling, got a job, met DH and never came back by accident. Always meant to visit more but COVID and kids happened and so it’s taken this long to finally return.

I’m now finally returning to visit my parents and am really struggling to figure out how much I need to budget for the trip! I don’t need to pay for accommodation but want to be able to maybe treat myself and parents once a day to a meal or coffee out (doesn’t need to be anything fancy) and maybe one or two day trips per week to, say, a national trust location - nothing fancy.

I’ll be in East Sussex.

I know it’s impossible to really say, but can you give any advice about how much I might need per week? Any ideas will be really appreciated!

Thanks so much!

3 x coffees £12
3 x National trust entry fees - £30-90?
3 x dinners £50-70 for Prezzo type

Get a national trust membership if that's the kind of place you want to visit as the one off fees are extortionate!

@PBandJ111 has it right I'd say costs wise. Don't forget insane prices for train travel if you need that too.

Thank you for the advice! That’s really helpful. Ugh yeah trains are horrific, even when I left it was shocking and hear it’s got worse since

If you are in East Sussex I think you can get a network railcard that covers the south east corner. That may work out cheaper if you take quite a few train trips.

I think a meal out for a family plus grandparents will be double what @PBandJ111 suggests.

You could do some of the free London museums and some free cathedral visits.
