Gym advice

I spent £40 on a personal trainer session at a private gym today and whilst it was okay, I have no sort of burning desire to keep booking in with this specific gym/trainer. They were average and the facilities are barebones. Plus I didn’t really have exclusive use of the space so it was like a public gym in that respect.

I’m wondering if I just instead get a membership at a different gym and find a personal trainer there? As it could keep my costs down whilst also giving me the initial support I need to get the right posture etc then I can just get on with it. I’m not sure if some gyms offer complimentary support for new customers or how much it may cost.

just looking for any thoughts/advice as I’m a beginner.

That's pretty cheap for a PT. Mines 65 quid an hour and he does sessions alongside classes. I'm not really sure what you're wanting, just to be the only one there?

I think if you want a private PT session that's not in a gym with others around, you'd need to find someone who has a set up of their own (maybe at home - I know of PTs who offer sessions from their home gyms).
I go to a gym that does circuits classes - I do a mix of strength and cardio, but there are classes entirely focused on weights/strength too. I started seeing a PT there but preferred the classes and they're included in the membership fee. There will probably be somewhere that offers something to suit you, it's just a case of working out what you want and maybe trying a few options.

No, just to clarify I don’t care if others are there or not. But this personal trainer touts the private setting as part of his cost.

If you have a choice of gyms I’d try a few others. Most of them will offer a free induction which would give you a chance to pick a trainer & see if you click.

My gym is cheap & cheerful but has everything I need, including a personal trainer of my own age & sex who I’ve been training with for nearly a year now & get on really well with.

All gyms are different - mine is part of a holiday / golf / leisure complex and is £39 per month which includes a free session with a PT every 6-8 weeks to give you a new programme / check form etc

Ring round and look for hotel / private leisure clubs as well as the big names eg Virgin / David Lloyd and just see what they all offer?
