HR advice re annual leave

thaegumathteth · 21/05/2024 13:46

I have started a new job which I work Tues / Weds / Thur.

Our annual leave allowance says 25 days + bank holidays.

Because I don't work Monday or Friday I won't be working Bank Hols anyways - does anyone know how this works for me? I have emailed HR but no reply.

Check the Annual Leave policy. Your leave will be pro-rata to reflect you working part time, and the bank holidays may be given as part of that pro rata amount.

https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlement the entitlement should be the same whatever days worked so yes you should get bank holidays even if as a percentage.

Calculate holiday entitlement

Holiday calculator to work out statutory holiday leave in days or hours

You should receive 3/5 annual leave and 3/5 bank holidays that you can take when you want to.

Work it as a FT person gets (25+8) days holiday, and needs to put in leave for a holiday or bank holidays.
You, therefore get three fifths of that amount. Bank holidays that fall on your working days (Xmas, boxing day, New Year are the only likely ones, unless we get another unexpected one like a coronation). Everything you want, or need, to take a day off for, you book it.

You should get 0,6 of the full time allowance. So 0.6x25 and 0.6x8 bh ie 15 + 5 . Christmas Day and NY may fall on working days.
