Choked on food 36 weeks pregnant

So I just ate some cherries, they were frozen and I heated them up so they had some juice and when I had a spoonful I choked on the juice. It took me about 10/15seconds to breathe properly and it was scary but I was managing to cough a little bit throughout. I’m just wondering will being without enough oxygen for that amount of time harm my baby? I’m currently just under 36 weeks pregnant and have felt him move since it happened but I’m just terrified I’ve cut off his oxygen for a bit x

He’ll be fine. If you felt like you could breathe in the minute after, so could he. He’d have had any residual oxygen in your body anyway which can stay quite a while. I wouldn’t worry. Plus he’s moved since. This is the kind of thing I’d worry about so I do understand. Not long to go now xx

You've probably held your breath for longer than 10/15 seconds.

Honestly, he'll be fine. Must've been scary for you though.

Think of it like this: if you went swimming and held your breath for a stretch under water, the same thing would happen, from the baby's perspective. The baby is perfectly fine. <3

I get it. The only thing that helps me when I’m in a spiral is looking for reasons it’ll be fine. I’ve thought of another for you. Some women smoke- excessively- through their entire pregnancies. They won’t have very much oxygen but they will have a whole load of chemicals in their lungs that they are passing on. That’s not for 10-15 seconds either, you’re talking probably 5-10 periods of 5 minutes a day. Every day for nine months. Those babies are usually born right as rain (apart from the side effects of low birth weight etc and other associated risk factors for them).

He’ll be in your arms before you know it and it will be such a relief (from the worries of pregnancy and hoping they’re going to be ok!) xx
