Ruder since the pandemic?

I recently went for a meal and started chatting to one of the waitresses. She was saying how much ruder customers are now compared with pre-pandemic. She felt it was one of the main reasons it is so difficult to retain hospitality staff. I have heard the same in lots of industries. Do you think we have become ruder as a society post-pandemic?

Yes definitely. I'm in healthcare and have seen people as a whole get much more demanding and impolite towards us and others in public-facing positions.

Haven’t heard about rudeness, but maybe more selfish.

I work in retail and haven't noticed any difference. Some people say customers are rude, but my experience is that the vast majority of people I encounter are polite and quite friendly. As I say, just my experience in our shop.

Yep retail worker here and customers want the world on a stick right here right now just for them .

They expect you to bend over backwards and if you don't they think a complaint will get them what they want.

People don't like waiting , they expect what they want to be there waiting for them for when they can be bothered to turn up. Its literally like many people now think their time is more important than anyone else's.
Self centred and think the world revolves about them.

Yes, but it's a two way street. Customer service is atrocious, so everyone is fed up, with much shorter fuses.

Yes totally. Customers want everything right here, right now and they want it for free!
