Foot-shaped shoes

Does anyone know of any good foot-shaped shoes that are not barefoot shoes?

I don't know how else to describe them, I don't mean the weird barefoot shoes with toes. I don't want barefoot shoes at all as I like a good sole under my foot. But narrow shoes are hurting me and I see a growing trend for shoes that are made wider in the toe area.

All my searches bring up barefoot shoes. Does anyone know of any like this that aren't barefoot style?

Have you tried measuring the width of your foot and buying the correct size?

anything in here that looks like it might be what you’re after? No personal recommendations I’m afraid, I love barefoot but a wide toe box at least is definitely the way forward.

I don't know what you mean

Do you think I'm buying shoes in the wrong size? This is about the shape of the toe box.

Fantastic! Thank you I'll have a read through this list

Well, if you wear the right width of shoe the toe box is naturally wider. Eg width EE, EEE

It's not wider in the right way.

I'm asking for recommendations on anatomically correct shaped shoes. All the shoes you buy in the usual shops have narrow, pointed footbeds. It's hard to get actual foot-shaped shoes.

I know what you mean OP

Most shoes narrow too much towards the toes

Camper shoes worth a look

Hermittrismegistus · 19/05/2024 22:57

Well, it was only a suggestion as it didn't sound like something you had tried.

Enko · 19/05/2024 23:01

Allegria shoes and Joya shoes

OOfos too but they are more sandals though they have some shoes

minipie · 19/05/2024 23:01

Also anything made by Birkenstock - they do lots of shoes not just sandals

Blundstone for boots

ChristmasJumperz · 19/05/2024 23:02

I haven't tried them personally but my partner wears Lems for this reason and finds them really comfortable. I just googled them and they do womens shoes. HTH

possnot · 19/05/2024 23:04

I have found Rocketdog shoes have a wide, comfortable toe box.

Somehowgirl · 19/05/2024 23:07

Thanks all, I'll check out all these brands

I used to love these but recently bought a pair and found them uncomfortable. Same with vans/converse trainers. Feel like my feet are changing and I'm a bit lost as to where to shop!

I wear barefoot shoes, the more minimal the better though not fivefingers! There are loads to choose from and you can add cushion and even a heel rise with insoles if you don't want minimal sole. Lems and Altras are often considered a compromise as they're quite thick soled but have reasonably anatomic toe boxes.

Thanks. Did you dive straight in to barefoot shoes or gradual change?

I can't help feeling like it must hurt walking about in them!

Totally agree OP. It’s not even a wide foot thing - most shoes are just a totally different shape to actual feet. Watching with interest. Walking boots and shoes seem to be the closest - it’s funny how when the shoes are specifically designed to be good for, you know, walking in, most of the manufacturers seem to favour a much more rounded wider toe end. Why might that be?! But it’s somehow so unstylish to have foot shaped shoes that they’re practically impossible to find.

Agree with the camper suggestion. They do seem to be cut a bit differently. Will follow up other links with interest.

I accidentally dove straight in. Bought some Vivo boots as I liked the look, took them away for a trip and loved them, had previously struggled with knee and ankle pain when walking and suddenly didn't. Haven't looked back.

But some people do need a more gentle transition. Summer is a good time to try as sandals are often easier to get a good fit than shoes.

Aparecium · 19/05/2024 23:16

Birkenstock
Moshulu (some)
Geox (some)

I'm interested in finding others, too.

The foot on the right is still restricted though! Shoes need to provide room for the big toe (primarily but all toes really) to splay in motion as it/they should.

minipie · 19/05/2024 23:19

I find New Balance 574 style have a lot of width for toes.

shuffleofftobuffalo · 19/05/2024 23:25

I have v wide feet and the new balance 574 does not have lots of room for me! The 327 does tho.

Brands I've found with foot shaped foot bed -

ara
Pikolinos
Josef siebel
Rieker
Angulus
Saltwater
Hotter

It's hard if you want fashion over function tho - for some reason all the barefoot companies seems to gravitate towards ugly and unfashionable rather than making an effort to look stylish.
