Feeling unwelcome in a nail bar

Aibu about this? I booked into a nail bar. I asked the lady if she had time to fix a bad manicure. She said yes. I got there showed her what I wanted and on at least 4 occasions the other staff members kept saying “Jess have you got time to do that” “Jess will you be able to do that before your next client” “don’t do it Jess if you don’t have time for it”
As I’ve never been there before. I don’t know if it’s that Jess just takes too long on things or if it was an issue they had with me. But I did feel a bit uncomfortable.

AIBU?

What had you asked for?

Stichintime · 19/05/2024 11:23

Depends how long you were expected to wait.

You said you booked in, but did you actually walk in rather than booking?

If you'd booked, they are extremely rude.

If you were a walk in, they should have made you an appointment if they were that pushed for time but questioning "Jess" like that in front of a customer is out of order.

I wouldn't be rushing back.

I felt an odd vibe when I went into one once, like all the salon workers looked worried at seeing me, ie someone in smart work clothes, nothing special, but I had a meeting, so I had to look formal.
Lots of these places have forced labour where the owners confiscate the workers' passports etc. I think that they feared the authorities, which wasn't part of...

Was it a cash-only place?
