Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day. For the first time in ages I was not alone to start a Sunday 😱 DD2 has been up hours by the looks of it, doing all the little jobs I'd usually do, and made me tea and toast! She's just left me the towels to wash and a handful of pots which I might leave until later on

Today's plan is more bracelet making and glasses decorating for our Eras Tour night in just under 4 weeks. We also need to look for suitably sized bags and both dds need to send me outfit links - nothing fits dd1's boobs 🙄 and dd2 is struggling to find something she feels confident in.

Dd's just chucked a gammon in the slow cooker so we can craft away for most of the day & then have tea without any real cooking needed.

Later on it'll be showers & chill before an early one for me. I think I'm going to pinch another posters Self Care Sunday idea again & have an everything shower/face mask/pamper myself a bit, ready for the last week before half term 😊

What about you lovely lot? 🌞

Morning all... up early as the carpenter has left so much stuff in our room I can't shut the door and the cats get in... anyway, heading to the garden centre for a cold frame to grow cucumbers in. I've never gardened before but this house is making me do it!

LBOCS2 · 19/05/2024 10:52

Morning everyone!

Quiet start to the day today - we were supposed to get up and out to go to a museum but there are engineering works on the line and frankly, we'd rather spend the day in the garden - so we've postponed that for a couple of weeks.

DH is about to take DD2 out to the park after he's finished sorting the laundry, and I think I'm going to take DD1 for a big girls' breakfast at the cafe - she's been struggling with her moods (11yo hormones!) the last couple of days so we can try and have a bit of a reconnect without getting grouchy with each other.

Once we all reconvene at home, DH and I will finish planting up the main bed in the garden, maybe mow the lawn and then sit and enjoy the fruits of our labours - possibly with a tipple or two.

Nutsabouttopic · 19/05/2024 10:53

Very easy day here today. I'm recovering from that virus that is doing the rounds. Exhausted still from it. Put a breast of turkey in the slow cooker. Will do baked potatoes and salad with it later. I'm back in bed with a cup of tea dh brought in. DC1 is playing a match, DC2 is on a day off so won't be seen for a while, DC3 is studying. DH is having breakfast but spending the day in the garden. I'll get up have a shower and change my bed. Then if weather is warm enough I'll sit out in garden reading. Just a chill day

Check your council guidelines but most forbid building works on a Sunday! If so you could have a word

Yes indeed but the stress of having to confront my neighbours and/or their builders is more than I can bear. It's not like they don't know it's not ok.

Thanks for the support though, I appreciate it.

I'm not very well with chronic illness and I have to weigh up whether any stress is worth it. I would have just gone out if I was well.

veiledsentiments · 19/05/2024 11:01

One load of washing done and line dried. Put away already. Need to empty dishwasher. Am just sat on the sofa at the minute. Pulled pork wraps and coleslaw for dinner. Pork already cooking on the big green egg. Trying to make OH decide when he’s going back to the UK. He doesn’t want to go, so won’t commit. Got eldest daughter and her boyfriend coming on the 9th of May, and then a friend of hers on the 11th, so it would be better if he went before then and then be here to spend time with eldest.
My youngest has a breast reduction in March. Same problem trying to get anything to fit her boobs, and then not drown her. She’s so much happier and a lot more comfortable. Best money I ever spent.

Whattheduck · 19/05/2024 11:23

I was out walking the dog at a local park at 7.30 it was lovely and so peaceful
Came back had my Sunday treat of an almond croissant and a coffee
Weeded the front garden and swept up
Dh is working away (been gone 3 weeks)
Just having another coffee whilst chatting to my Dd and her boyfriend who have just got up
Going to put a wash on and prepare dinner for later and make DD’s boyfriend a pack up as he’s working tonight
Going to take Dd out for a driving lesson later then just chill at home
Enjoy your day all

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 19/05/2024 11:30

Good morning @Lucysmam and others. I wonder what dd2 is after?😄 I'm glad the cat returned Alison.* I have had two coffees and toast. Then I went to Aldi for food. Because I look after my grandsons on Monday and Tuesday, I spend a fortune on suitable food! Lots of fruit, fruit shoot juices, yogurts and assorted muffins and crisps as well as actual food to eat for me. When I came back, I watered the garden. I've got a gammon joint in the oven. I've tidied up and hoovered and just had a cuppa and a scone. Later I'll visit mum in hospital. Gammon, purple sprouting broccoli and jersey royal spuds for dinner with cauliflower in cheese sauce. Yum. Enjoy your day.

Decafflatteplease · 19/05/2024 11:31

lucysmam · 19/05/2024 10:14

@Decafflatteplease it was your self care Sunday idea I pinched! How do you do lasagne in the slow cooker?

I can't take all tb credit for self care Sunday I think I saw it on a YouTube vlog one time 😊

Re lasagne. Our oven is temperamental so I much prefer doing it in the slow cooker, we have a Morphy Richards sear and stew.

We don't eat beef so I either use pork or turkey mince. It's pork today. So in a frying pan fry garlic, mince, a stock pot, mixed herbs, soffrito mix (we use the m and s frozen one) balsamic vinegar/Worcester sauce and a tin of tomatoes. Basically as if you were doing a Bolognese but it doesn't need to be completely cooked as will cook properly in the slow cooker.

Then in the slow cooker just layer it up so I do mince then dried lasagna sheets then white sauce (jar) and keep repeating. You'll have to break the sheets to get them to fit. Then lid on with tea towel under the lid for condensation and I leave it around 5-6 hours. About an hour before serving i put grated mozzarella on top.

Its a bit different to the oven version, alot softer and obviously not as browned on top but we like it.

Let me know if you try it! We barely use our oven anymore as have slow cooker, double air fryer and a rice cooker.

LeonoraFlorence · 19/05/2024 11:35

Sounds lovely, OP. We are all over the place today!
DDs 1&2 are playing in a tennis tournament this morning. DH is there with them watching/captaining as they were short adults I think. DD3 is over playing at SIL & BILs with my DNieces. DD4 is playing in the garden with her little friend who lives nearby. Littlest one is quite happy toddling about in garden watching while I have a coffee.
We are all planning to meet up for lunch this afternoon at pub with beautiful garden, once tennis is over. Neighbours are going to come along too with their DDs as the pub garden has a sort of wooden play area which is brilliant for the kids.
Enjoy your Sunday!

Floralnomad · 19/05/2024 11:40

Morning all , I’m just about to take the dog to a NT place for a walk , husband is going to the Harry Potter Studio tour ( again) with my sister . This afternoon I will be watching cricket on Sky . I did loads of washing yesterday so nothing really to do today .

AlisonDonut · 19/05/2024 11:47

lucysmam · 19/05/2024 10:29

@AlisonDonut that's good to see the cat has turned up, even if she is covered in cobwebs 😊

We just spent money on having her neutered, and she has just started getting friendly with her babies [rather than smacking them round the face] and spending playing and I feared the worst last night.

She's gone next door into the garden under the decking to clean her face off so she will get another pouch when she reappears. So happy she is still alive!

@NorthUtsireSouthUtsire Shock amazing! Best of luck

lucysmam · 19/05/2024 10:27

@Simonjt have a fabulous time! What are you wearing?

I guess what I’m wearing now, shorts and t-shirt, I think they’re keeping the roof shut so it will be quite stuffy inside.

TrumpetOfTheMatriarchy · 19/05/2024 12:05

Revising for an exam tomorrow. Have travelled up to campus as I would not be undisturbed at home
Listening to radio on my headphones and revising fractures. Hoping DH will get on with weekend jobs at home and not just fuck off out like he did last weekend.

Hit the kitchen running this morning; Sunday Brunch on in the background as I drank far too many cups of coffee and started my mis en place for the week ahead.

bumface232 · 19/05/2024 12:25

We've had a really chaotic week so had a lovely lazy morning with bacon sandwiches and some time in the garden. I've got two loads of washing on the line and the toddler is napping. When she wakes up I think we'll take a picnic to the park.
Then it's home, put the washing away, do the school uniform ironing and prep Sunday lunch (which we'll have this evening).

YouwouldthinkIhavemoresense · 19/05/2024 12:27

WhamBamThankU · 19/05/2024 09:21

Sounds like a lovely day! I'm about to have my second coffee in the garden after I've hung the washing out. Will make DS16 bacon sandwich for breakfast, I might have poached eggs. Todays task is to start sorting clothes for our holiday in 5 weeks, I usually leave it to the weekend before but we're going for 2 weeks this time!

Lovely - where are you off to? 🧡

Judellie · 19/05/2024 12:40

Hello everyone
Been just about floored by a random period after months (thanks menopause!) but felt loads better today so got up, unloaded and reloaded dishwasher, set a white wash off, hoovered downstairs and mopped the kitchen floor before anyone was up.
Had a banana for breakfast then took my two altar servers to church after their breakfast. Came back, hung washing out and had some porridge.
Picked my two up, came back and had lunch.
Going for a walk with DD, then she's busy with schoolwork. I'm going to do an hour's house clearance at my mum's, then meet my brother for a coffee at McD and then come back to do the Sunday dinner.

Ohmych · 19/05/2024 12:49

I'm off work sick at the moment with a bad back so very jealous of what everyone is doing. I have put a load of washing out and fed and watered the birds with lots of sitting down in between. Dd didn't come down for breakfast until 11 and Do is in work so I was alone until then. I did try and sit in the garden and read my book for a bit but it was too noisy I couldn't concentrate. I might try again later.

lucysmam · 19/05/2024 12:54

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I have no idea what she's after...yet 🤣. She's just gone to finish tidying out a drawer & hoover, then coming back to make bracelets with me. Your post reminded me I need a new watering can for the few plants I have out there 💧

@Simonjt no sparkles?! 😱 I'm fully embracing the sparkly ✨️ you'll have to share some photos!

Being Sunday today hubby and I have our day off work - we're f/t self-employed in Specialist Retail, but we've had to come in so I can do the monthly business accounts/bookkeeping, it gets done every morning of the 19th of the month no matter what day the 19ths falls on. I'm OK doing them so there's no tantrums from me!

I didn't crash out of bed this morning until 9:40, I needed a lay-in ... or is it lie-in? ... after another rough night up and down caused by menopause and never-ending agonizing back/hip injuries.

I fed our 3 cold water fish, Nosher Jaws and Fangs and our cat, Lady Wopsie, had my own brekkie, showered, then here at work just after 10.

The accounts are done on my side so am just waiting for hubby to finish his side of them then we'll plonk down in front of his laptop and watch a couple of films while scoffing and drinking!

embolass · 19/05/2024 13:52

Was up sharp as usual , it was v overcast but it’s broken through. Got my shopping, dog walk, ironing and 2 loads washing done, all before the suns appearance! Now sitting guilt free in the garden with @ large coffee and frozen snickers (Marathon!!). Will do a bit of garden tidying, another dog walk then steak and chips for us all. Gin and tonic hopefully around 4-5 in the sunshine . Have a good afternoon all!

Thislittlekitten · 19/05/2024 18:44

Hello

Late to the party but was sad I missed it this morning.

Took DS to his sports club this morning and managed to get some shopping done. Watered plants in the garden and generally pottered about. I usually work Sundays so this was nice.

Chicken cooking For tea and quiet night of reading planned.
