Washing machine smells of burning rubber

Have switched it off at the wall. It made odd squeaking noises when spinning this cycle, and is leaking a bit.

Is it worth getting a man out to look at it, or hit a new one?! What's wrong with it?

Will Google...

I had this before. Can't remember the issue but I got a New one. Was too scared to use it.

How much did you pay for it, and when?

stonebrambleboy · 18/05/2024 23:20

The bearings might have gone. Cheaper to buy a new machine I think.

I honestly can't remember but was the day after holiday has so much washing. Couldn't wait a week for a repair guy. So went to curry's and got whatever i could come away with.
If i remember correct the old one was a beko.

Can't remember how much it was!! Years old. It was a replacement one we were given in the Hoover debacle (about washing machines that were fire risks).

Burning rubber may be the belt. By the time you've bought the part and paid the repairman it may be more cost effective to get a new machine.

I thtink any white goods more than 10 years old just replace. If for no other reason than the new ones will be more energy efficient.
