Teachers, would you like this gift?

Looking for end of year gift for teachers and tempted by a look fantastic box, particularly because I love Brazilian bum bum cream and have had it as a gift myself but it’s £££ on its own. She’s late 20s quite a girly girl.
any other suggestion to usual flowers/wine/voucher gratefully received if this isn’t a winner

Teachers, would you like this gift?

Such a thoughtful gift, I'm sure she would be appreciative of anything Smile

longdistanceclaraclara · 18/05/2024 13:18

I wouldn't. Very sensitive skin.
If you want to gift, give a voucher and a handmade card.

neleh87 · 18/05/2024 13:21

I would be delighted with this!

I think skincare products are a very personal choice so I wouldn’t.

Chanel05 · 18/05/2024 13:24

Agree with the above, I think a tad too personal. I wouldn't go with wine either, not everyone drinks alcohol. A small Amazon voucher is always greatly received!

Smartiepants79 · 18/05/2024 13:26

It is a kind thought but I wouldn’t buy skincare for anyone I don’t know very, very well.
Personally I would choose something less personal that could definitely be used by anyone.

Bbq1 · 18/05/2024 13:34

I think it's a lovely gift and would be delighted to receive it

FlakyScroller · 18/05/2024 13:34

I'd appreciate the thought it would go straight in my regift cupboard, as do most of the stuff I get bought, including wine /prosseco as I don't drink.
Personalised stuff stays on my desk for a year so the kids can see I have it then binned following July.
Honestly, just send a card and a box of malteasers from poundland.
I do my job because I want to do it, I am paid well to go and do something I love.
I don't need presents.
If you wouldn't buy your doctor, cleaner, binman, cashier at Tesco a present for doing their job why do you feel obliged to get one for me?

Wisenotboring · 18/05/2024 14:05

I would be very touched by any gift. However, I always stick to john lewis vouchers as it's impossible to know personal preferences, allergies etc. E en flowers are tricky as you don't know if the teacher is going on holiday the next day.

StripedTomatoes · 18/05/2024 14:07

If I got that it would go straight in the charity bag.

twentysevendresses · 18/05/2024 14:41

I'm a teacher (although very definitely not in my 20s 🤦‍♀️🤣). Sorry OP but as thoughtful as that is, and as grateful as I would be of course, I would regift your lovely present. I have very sensitive skin and couldn't use any of that unfortunately - my daughters would love it though, so I'd offer it to them, so it wouldn't be wasted ❤️

My best ever gift one year was beautifully framed drawing of me, standing at my Smart Board with a huge speech bubble coming out of my head saying (shouting 🤣🤣) BE QUIET YEAR 3, I'VE GOT A HEADACHE!

I don't think I ever said that to my class, at least I hope I didn't, but it was so funny and was definitely something I thought on a daily basis!! 🤣🤣

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 18/05/2024 15:27

I think it’s fine actually. Looks like some sort of shampoo, lip balm …. Stuff that most people could use. The rodial might be an issue but surely something she could pass to a friend if she didnt want to use it. While vouchers for places like John Lewis are great, this is preferable to mugs, biscuits, diaries and personalised stuff.

SparkyManga · 18/05/2024 15:56

Go with a card and some whiteboard pens. At least the pens will be used. You’re not certain that the skin care will be used.

Rocknrollstar · 18/05/2024 16:43

If you must give a gift, give a voucher. However, what teachers appreciate most is a) a letter from the parents expressing appreciation for how their child has benefitted from being in their class and b) a home made card from the pupil in question.

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 18/05/2024 16:45

I’ve never been given skincare I would choose or want. It goes to charity.

Oh this, as well.
I had one last year saying "thank you, you've turned around x attitude to education" he was a particularly challenging child, and I'd had more conversations with his mum than i cpuld count, that made my day. Better than all the presents in the world.

Meredusoleil · 18/05/2024 16:49

The best present, imho, would be an email to the Head singing my praises, as well as something personalised with the child's own words. Or failing that, an Amazon voucher all the way 😉

Findingthisweekhard · 18/05/2024 21:04

Oh I’ll definitely do the email to head. She really has been excellent and dd adores her, it’s likely she wouldn’t still be in school without her, and I’ve probably been a right pain the arse (child has medical needs and Sen and I really advocate for her).
No cosmetics box then, will get dad to do a card and I’ll find a more generic gift, probably a voucher

I know teacher gifts aren’t required but I enjoy giving gifts, and yes at Christmas I give the bin men a voucher for a pizza for them to get a nice lunch and a tub of chocolates to share.
We give dds nurses cards and small gifts etc etc

Also girly teacher - yes please!!

menopausalmare · 18/05/2024 21:11

It's very generous but a bit too much. Any gift over £25 must be declared at our school due to conflict of interest. A nice message in a card is always appreciated.

sanityisamyth · 18/05/2024 21:13

I hate being given bathroom stuff. It goes straight onto my local Facebook page for giving things away.

Stopmotion24 · 18/05/2024 21:19

A card is enough. Email to the head sounds great. Something made or decorated by the child? A plant in a pot that the child painted? If you must give something, which you don’t, anything that gets used up is fine, if not toiletries, then nice tea or biscuits or non-alcoholic nice drink but don’t be offended if it gets regifted or donated. Something to use in class seems a good idea, nice pens, colourful chalks for playground, you child’s favourite book… This debate comes up every year, and some parents feel under pressure to give something when they maybe can’t afford and it can make the teachers feel awkward or uncomfortable. A card is always safe and sufficient.
