Where can I get a wedding ring (at very short notice)

Apologies for it not being on the wedding board but I need to sort this asap

I am getting married on Tuesday and I have completely forgotten to get a ring. I just want a plain gold band; very slim.

Can you just get them off the shelf, and if so, where? It’s hopeless looking at wedding sites because they are all “design your own perfect style” etc. I have one day really because I’m working Sat and Sun so I need to be able to go somewhere and know I’ll walk out with a ring (my husband-to-be doesn’t want a ring so no need to do anything there. I vaguely thought I might get a second-hand one but have failed to do anything about it!

A high street / local jewelry shop? Argos? Pandora?

tattychicken · 17/05/2024 12:00

Any high street jewellers should have them in stock I would have thought? H Samuel or similar, or whatever your nearest town has available.

socks1107 · 17/05/2024 12:00

Try high jewellers like h Samuel etc
45 years ago my bought hers in Argos that morning!

You can just go to a Jewellers on the high street. I got mine from Ernest Jones. Simple white gold plain band.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 17/05/2024 12:01

Any jeweller will have a simple gold band in stock, probably several.

Olika · 17/05/2024 12:02

Argos. Warren James. High street jewellery shops.

ElizaCBennett · 17/05/2024 12:03

Remember if you are unable to get one in time, you can marry with any ring - or without one altogether - and get one you like in the fullness of time.

Congratulations 🎊

Waaaaainnne · 17/05/2024 12:07

From Argos to Cartier. They all have them piled up in a cupboard for immediate purchase!

35pEnergyDrink · 17/05/2024 12:11

Excellent - thank you all! I’m glad it sounds straightforward.

It’s just a low-key wedding (we have been together 15 years and are just a bit disorganised) so I’m trying not to overdo it but decided I would like a ring.

@socks1107 that is pretty much my style Grin It’s a miracle I actually booked the registry tbh

DH & I bought our (under £50 each) titanium wedding bands from Amazon! Admittedly we did have a ring sizer to hand. High street jewellers may be your best bet so you can size correctly.

Any ring on the day will always be special to you, even one you already own. The cost or where you bought it doesn’t really matter in the end.

Wishing you both a long & happy marriage x

Bananalanacake · 17/05/2024 12:18

I had a low key register office wedding and we went for the non ring ceremony, it wasn't a requirement ( this was in Germany) but I see you actually want a ring, would a high street one be ok.

Anirudhsinghdqot · 17/05/2024 12:19

hello fin

Eminybob · 17/05/2024 12:25

Of you are unsure of your size you could order a sizer next day delivery

Any highstreet jeweller is likely to have a plain gold/platinum/white gold band in stock. You might have to try a couple to find one the right size or to find one that can be resized same day.

If you struggle you could use any ring. My friend decided last minute that he wanted to have a wedding ring and he bought one in Topman the day before. Obviously costume jewellery not gold but he decided he could upgrade it if he wanted to.

35pEnergyDrink · 17/05/2024 12:47

Thank you - yes @Bananalanacake we did tick the ring exchange bit and said just one

I'm happy for it be from wherever but I will need to try it on as I’m not sure of the size; I’ll have a look this evening in a few places but that ring gauge @Eminybob has posted looks useful?

If you are into recycling, you can usually find lovely rings in most antique shops too.

HawkersEast · 17/05/2024 12:54

Literally any high street jewelry shop.

EasilyDefined · 17/05/2024 13:01

Yes, any high street jeweller should have them, I wouldn’t trust online at this short notice.

Choochoo21 · 17/05/2024 15:40

Most people I know got their rings from argos.

Good luck with the wedding and marriage OP 💐

This is a good idea to just get any ring that fits for now and then upgrade/change it in the future if you want to.

Having worked for a high street chain jeweller I would disagree. We only had one size of each ring in stock at any time so you would be taking quite a gamble. If you know roughly what size you are I'd order one into store and then get sized properly after the fact if it's a little off?
