Bed wetting

My DD is 5, 6 in August.
At school last week she wet herself towards the end of the day. the teacher discreetly moved her from the class so she could change into dry clothes.
Teacher is very lovely and caring and told me my DD just said she forgot. Teacher saidThey had had a busy day and a supply teacher was teaching the last classes so was unfamiliar. So DD may not have asked to go, they didn't give appropriate time or something for toilet break etc

A few days later DD wet the bed at home at night, she had drink a lot of water before bed. she said she hadnt drunk much water at school.
Then just last night she wet a bit, managed to get to the toilet though.

she has wet the bed on previous occasions but it was a while ago.

There has been no day wetting since that one incident.

im trying to not make a big deal of it. but wondering what has happened - is it normal for 5 year olds to bed wet like this?

Have you been to the doctor? Sounds like it could be a UTI which aren’t uncommon in girls of her age.

@MolkosTeenageAngst

She has been dry a few nights now...
How can I tell if it's a uti? What do I need to look for??

It might just have been a coincidence that she had accidents so close together. However, if she has an accident again in next couple of days, shows any level of irritation or being uncomfortable, then get her checked out.

@Toomuch44 she did say that she was playing and then had to run to the toilets as she again left it late....she did wet her pants a bit.

How do I test for uti ??

Is she exhausted when she goes to bed?

My DS when he's knackered, sleeps so deeply that occasionally he just doesn't get up in time

You don't test for it. You take her to the GP.

Aside from a UTI. my other suspicion would be constipation (it can put pressure on the bladder). Have a look at the ERIC website (the children's bowel and bladder charity, they do a lot on toileting issues) and as other have said contact your GP to get her urine tested for an infection.

Yes quite normal.

My DS very randomly had an accident at school at the age of 6! It was an unusual day with lots if exciting stuff going on and hasn't happened since. He occasionally wets the bed (maybe twice a year), usually rockets up in height around the same time

Take her to the GP, she will need to give a urine sample and they can then test it.
