Does anyone sleep with ear plugs every night?

I have been sleeping with ear plugs in every night for about 10 years. At first I wore the foam ones but have been wearing the silicone ones for about 6 years. I can’t sleep without them, I really need them. However recently I have been getting pretty bad ear ache, like a sharp stabbing throbbing pain inside my ear. It pain only happens once every few days but I’m worried that the ear plugs are damaging my ears.

I sleep on my front and can feel the ear plug digging into my ear so maybe it’s too far and has done something? I can’t see how but it’s the only reason I can think of for my ear ache and now it’s really scared me. I slept without them last night and only got two hours broken sleep 😢

Does anyone recommend any other kind of ear plugs that won’t cause problems? The foam ones just don’t work for me at all.

I use the wax ones, I break them in half and then each half is the perfect size for my ears. Then just mould them over the entrance to the ear rather than sticking them properly in, I find that's the most comfortable.

Oh yes, I use them until they change colour! Blush

Me too. I didn't like to say it though.
I gave a friend a pair to try last July. When I saw him in October he was still using the same pair 😵

@Lostinconversation sounds to me like you've just got a build up of wax, nowt to worry about at all. Try a few drops of extra virgin olive oil in your ears for a week or so. The stuff from your kitchen is fine. If no improvement consider getting your ears professionally syringed (no longer available on the NHS - at least not where I live!)

Okay thank you, that’s a relief!

I use loop quiet ear plugs every night. Just got into the habit of using them after being regularly woken by a neighbours milkvan delivery at 2am.

Are these comfortable if you sleep on your side? I have tried various ear plugs but none of them are comfortable to lay my ear on the pillow all night. We have resorted to separate bedrooms at home but if we go away it’s hard. I tried white noise machine which was ok for a while but now it just annoys me as I want quiet!

I have the Loop Quiet ear plugs. They're really comfortable as they come with different sized ends, I also sleep on my side and have had no issue with them at all :)
