Good evening, I am really confused as to how I can get enrolled onto this course in university. I don’t have any a levels currently, only have gcse and highest diploma of level 2 in business and beauty therapy.
im very keen on becoming a social worker after being involved in an abusive relationship for a number of years and my own personal experience with social care. Please see the requirements listed for the course attached

Could someone please help me understand the best and quickest route onto this course. For reference I am 28, single mum of 2, not working but getting pip.

thanks

I'm a SW lecturer. Definitely look at the Foundation year...the entry level qualification. Some unis offer it as foundation plus three year degree, others do it as a standalone health and social care foundation year and then you transfer. That one year course sets you up magnificently and our 3+1 students progress so well.

The foundation year is the same as the Access to HE diploma as mentioned in your photo.

@Readthestandingorder thank you! I will look at this now and see if Wolverhampton offer it

It's most HEIs fire-proof way of retaining students, so I would be surprised if they didn't! Another thing you could do is email the programme lead for the BA in social work at Wolverhampton and ask their advice. Good luck!

I went through this in my 30s. I would highly recommend the access course over foundation courses.
Pros:

  1. If you take out a loan the Debt gets written off once you complete Higher Education.
  2. I found the help and allowances I got for it really helpful and my Access course helped me apply for scholarships and bursary only available to adults in FE colleges.

Cons
It is really intensive for 6 months, but for me it felt easy as i loved the subject, and loved the environment.

With the foundation year you pay £9250 tuition but you can also get maintenance loan.
