do you like it?
it arrives and you then have to decide what to cook that week,
must be a great way of having different meals

Yes I have one fortnightly from a local farm, we're only two adults so weekly was too much. It's great, I like that it's local and based on what it's season. I meal plan once it arrives.

Yes, we get one weekly.

We do now eat more veg and I’ve tried new recipes too. I like that it comes without plastic packaging and I think most of it tastes better than the supermarket stuff.

We are told quite a few days in advance what’s coming so I can meal plan without any problems. In winter it can be a bit repetitive so we do occasionally skip a week.

We used to but particularly in the summer we would get way too many courgettes which I really don’t like.

I don't, but I used to. It worked well pre-kids when working life was less stressful and time-pressured as the box would arrive and then I could plan what to make around it.

But now, I do a once weekly shop and the meals need to revolve around life (working patterns, kids activities, what needs to be used up in the fridge already) rather than a veg box. We do eat a lot of fruit and veg though and grow a lot of our own already, so I'm probably not their target market.

If you have time to plan around it and you are looking to branch out and challenge yourself to cook different things, try different veg, I think it can be a good thing to try. If you are looking for one, see if you have a fruit/veg wholesaler near you. There are all these more expensive boxes with nice branding, but actually I found a local wholesaler who would put together a weekly box of what they had in stock that week and it was lovely and much more affordable than the bigger name ones.

Until recently, I had one delivered a fortnight from a local organic farm. It was fab and came with suggested recipes to use with the veggies. However, the recipes were fantastic, I batch cooked like a lunatic on delivery day, and now my freezer is full so I've got to eat what I've made before I restart my subscription!

Not any more. We used to do Abel and Cole but the prices went up and the quality went down. Same with a local one we tried in the pandemic. I don't mind misshapen fruit and veg but I do object to it actually being rotten, which happened more than once. Perhaps I was just unlucky. We're more 'salad with everything' than vegetable eaters anyway so it didn't really work that well for us.

We get one from a csa we pick up and weigh out ourselves. It's fairly predictable what you are going to get based on the season, varies week to week but no big surprises. This week, potatoes, carrots, onion, leeks, Swiss chard, rocket, mushrooms. I don't find it takes much planning, many things can be substituted when I am cooking, I have meat in the freezer, I just work with what I have.
