Is it normal to have a wobble about your job every now and then, or is it a sign you need to move?

Just that, really.

I can’t tell if my enthusiasm is waning or if it’s just a temporary thing. Either way it would be silly to move now as I’m pregnant so wouldn’t be eligible for enhanced maternity pay or SMP if I found a new job.

I once really loved it but I’ve got a bit disenchanted and can’t figure out why.

If you felt like this was it a sign you needed to move jobs or do you occasionally get it in your current role?

A one off wobble is nothing to change your life over.

I think everyone has a wobble every now and then, its when it's more than a wobble or the wobbles become to frequent that its an issue

Leaving during pregnancy would be a big decision. How much longer have you got till you go on maternity?

Several months, so a good while yet.

I think you need to do some more exploration of what is causing the wobble and then you can start to considering whether it is something you can fix or whether it’s not going to go away. As others have said though you may need to stay where you are for financial security through your maternity leave. There is no harm in considering your next steps and putting plans in place for the future thereafter though.

How long have you been feeling disenchanted for?

Are you sure you aren't just disengaged because you know you will be having a break (and I don't mean that in the sit and relax kind of way I just can't think of a better word) and so your brain is already working ahead of itself?

Looking back to my last job, a wobble was telling me it was time to leave. I didn't listen until I'd had a few more wobbles. It was only when I had a bit of a breakdown that I realised what my wobbles had been telling me, which was Get Out Of There!

OP, you're in a different situation as you are pregnant. Could you just be feeling unsettled? Hang in there for your maternity leave and take that time to reassess.

I've had a work wobble today. I'm blaming it on perimeno hormones.

Did you feel like this before you were pregnant? Might just be hormones doing their thing.

Otherwise, I'd sit it out. You'll have maternity leave to mull over how you want to return to work and you don't want the added stress of looking/applying for jobs before baby is born.

I agree with DramaAlpaca though. A series of wobbles can be a sign that it's time to move on. It doesn't mean you have to do something about it Right Now though.

I've never lasted in a job longer than 3 years and that's only one job, 2 years is my average I think! I think I follow the wobble a little too often ha, but if the moves are strategic and it's always progression it doesn't really matter. It's not like previous generations where job hopping looked bad on your CV.

That said, I'd be careful changing jobs if planning to have a baby soon, not just due to maternity, but it's important to be somewhere you feel comfortable and safe when getting used to being a working mum, sickness etc!
