Chub rub, ow ow owwww!

I decided, in my infinite wisdom, to go for a run this morning. Well, being honest it wasn't really a run - just the first week of couch to 5k, but it sounds better if I say it was a run.

Anyway, because it was hot (and I'm an idiot who absolutely didn't consider the consequences of sweat combined with fat thighs) I decided to wear shorts. Sadly they were not long enough and kept riding up between my thighs and I now have a nasty sore patch both sides.

It's really really bloody sore, it stings in the shower and is sore when I walk, even though I'm now wearing trousers (very loose cotton, pyjamas in fact)

What can I do? Can I put anything on it to help? How long will it take to heal?

Ow ow ow ow ow, the pain. Bring me the gin!

Sudocrem

BusyCM · 12/05/2024 19:47

And buy chub rub shorts

shellyleppard · 12/05/2024 19:47

Cold flannel to try and cool it down??? Talcum powder helps stop any further rubbing x

Second, sudocrem! When in doubt, the answer is usually sudocrem!

user1471530109 · 12/05/2024 19:50

Sudocrem! Definitely. It's agony. I've been there. Slather on the cream and it thankfully doesn't take long to heal.

ow ow. Let the air get to it as much as you can, it'll feel much better once it's scabbed up.

Well done for getting out there. Don't let it put you off! I'm no runner really but I did finish C25k entirely in full length joggers.

If you look at old films of John Wayne you will see that he suffered from a similar problem.

Sorry to say this but, regrettably, it seemed to linger for some years.

MamaGarl85 · 12/05/2024 20:03

You can get liquid talc, from Asda i think...good for preventing chafing going forward.

NextPhaseOfLife · 12/05/2024 20:04

Echoing the Suducrem.

Medicine of the gods.

Suducrem, no clothes to bed.

Good as new in no time, and leggings/chub rub shorts from now on.

Orangesandlemons82 · 12/05/2024 20:05

Sudocrem for now to reduce the pain. When it is healed you can buy something called body glide (I get it from Amazon) and it stops me from getting chub rub.

HellonHeels · 12/05/2024 20:30

Better Tights sell chub rub shorts - fantastic in hot weather.

Running is more comfortable in leggings or crop leggings.

I'd sleep in cotton pj bottoms until it heals. Stops the skin sticking.

merryandbrightdelight · 12/05/2024 20:36

Aqueous cream or sudocreme

Primark sell some amazing anti-chafe shorts in their underwear section in black and neutral, £6

HÆLTHEPAIN · 12/05/2024 20:41

Totally off topic as my mum used to swear by Sudocrem but I always found it stung like I dunno what.

Aloe vera gel might be good if you have some. And I second the chub rub shorts!

bluecomputerscreen · 12/05/2024 20:42

how large is the area?
blister plasters are very effective for getting the healing started.

you need a nice crust and it needs to be kept suptle to avoid it breaking again.

CrushingOnRubies · 12/05/2024 20:47

Not sure if it helps your situation currently, but worth a try. But tbh allow as much air to circulate as possible. But to prevent in the future apply Mitchum roll on deodorant to tbe area. Or Vaseline
