Kids playing football outside my house, noise doing my head in!

Yes it is that time again and the kids are out with a football, nothing wrong with that but this lot always play outside my house rather than their own which is about 5 doors away. It is a street of small terraces, back yards, no gardens so no space to kick a ball about there. We are about 5 minutes walk away form a really large park and play area but I understand that they may not be allowed to go there. without an adult. There are about 4 of them aged 11 or so and the ball keeps hitting my front door and the sound does my head in. Front room open straight onto the street so the noise is loud. Gave it about 45 mins then went out and asked them to stop or move the game close to their home. By that time 2 adult males had joined them, one of them was rude to me, told me that kids need to play and if I don't like then "bloody move house" . I said that I understood that of course they need to play but maybe they could play outside their house or he could take them to the park.. Am just so fed up, felt quite intimidated by the male who told to "bloody to move" . Or maybe I am miserable child hating bitch!

I'm sorry but I would be joyous that this is the worst thing you have to worry about! Grin

How fabulous to have kids happy out the back. How lovely to have neighbours. How nice to have great weather.

You can't control what happens, only how you respond to it.

I'm going to write to send you hugs and sympathy - then hide the thread, because this is such a stressful topic. There is nothing you can do except sit and wonder how much the damage is going to cost. We've had more than £5 000 of damage before, to heating flu, and were two years without heating and hot water saving up for repairs

you have clearly never had to live with this threat and worry over your head.

Wonder how many would be philosophical about the noise if a football was being rattled off their front door

mumyes · 11/05/2024 20:00

Yeah fair enough I do accept the kicking it against your door bit is a bit much

Could you get an antisocial 'mosquito' repellent to discourage them?

If it's attached to a switch you could switch it on until they move away. Then switch it off again.

It's a non confrontational way of moving them along.

Teenagers and children can't stand the noise, but it's undetectable to adults.

I believe it's still completely legal in the uk.

It's a universal law that football fuckers NEVER play their joyous game outside of their own home.

As I explained I live in a terrace, no hall, my front door opens onto the street so when I sit in the front room I hear the football bashing against my front door. The kids live up the road and there is no reason why they can't play outside their own house unless their parents don't like the noise and have sent them down the road. I am sorry that you have a lot things to worry about, do hope life picks up for you. I too have a lot going on which is why my down time is important and a football thumping up against my front door was annoying

No! I couldn't do that! what I have done in the past is politely asked them if they can time limit it or maybe, just maybe play outside their own house but guess their parents don't want the noise.
