Small gifts c.£10 when invited to dinner

I always like to take a little something in addition to our contribution to alcohol when invited for dinner/BBQ etc

I'm looking for ideas beyond the usual flowers/plant/chocolates.

I have in the past taken candles, including outdoor ones in the summer, or herb plants - but most of my friends have enough of that stuff.

Looking for new ideas please!

Budget £10 give or take

Do they have a garden? Plant pot? bird feeder? do they have a windowsill? Grow from seeds herbs? Or if they have all these candles, a candle stick? picture frame? vase? really though, I think chocolates are the go-to. As you have found for yourself, constant gifts takes up house room that people might not have.

I have sometimes taken a bottle of infused oil / balsamic glaze etc.

Anything from a posh deli basically.

Whatever you do please make it consumable. I try and declutter and am trying to avoid accumulating stuff. I do try and personalise stuff. A friend has a bean to cup coffee machine so a nice bag of beans is always appreciated. Chocolate coated Brazil nuts, a nice pack of biscuits, pot of homemade jam. Whatever they are into.

Yes consumable is good, definitely wouldn't take something that would add to clutter.

Please don't take stuff unless it's consumable or short lived because our homes are so full these days. Chutney, coffee, jam, basket of fruit, olive oil (most appreciated) all work and don't think it needs to be super posh brands, the "deluxe" lidl would be much appreciated by me as I'd actually use it

Consumable gifts are the way to go.
