I've fallen in love with these tiles but they're out of my budget really. Would it...

Look weird if I cut them with standard pink tiles in a checkerboard fashion so I can at least have some of them??

It's a no to pink from me you could cut them with green as suggested much better the pink just looks a bit, 80s. I also don't think the border in the middle looks right it's dated. Could you go with all sage green but then pick a section like near the oven where you have those tiles but all of then so say 6 across 3 down.

SD1978 · 10/05/2024 20:19

Pink looks very 80's- what colour is the cabinetry in your kitchen- can you try a sage green?

Tilelurr · 10/05/2024 20:20

I know 400 might not seem alot but I'm on a super tight budget.

I have a bathroom to sort too and kids bedrooms.

Just doing one room at a time but have to replace all flooring etc so am trying to keep it cheap but just ordered one of these as a free sample and fell in love 😭

I think I might do it white with the middle row floral and paint the kitchen cabinets pink

I would say the same white as the tile background and use them as a top layer, not a middle stripe.

But if you love them just use them and economise elsewhere. Or do a key section of all those tiles in one area.

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 10/05/2024 20:35

I would make a feature out of them behind the cooker or the sink and do the rest in a complementary plain tile.

I would take elements of the colours in the tiles to use for kitchen fabrics like a window blind, oven gloves, table cloths etc

Get all of your friends and family go order a free sample!

soupfiend · 10/05/2024 20:37

I dont like the pink at all, its like a bathroom from the 80s

White or sage or as others have said, go the whole hog and get it done properly, the tiles are lovely

drawnfrommemory · 10/05/2024 20:43

I agree with doing a feature behind the cooker or sink and the rest white. I think that would look nicer than a stripe. And you'll get to admire them any time you are stirring something on the hobs or washing up!

OldTinHat · 10/05/2024 21:16

Noooo, not with pink. White would be lovely. That pink reminds me of 80s bathrooms!

I'd kill for an 80s pink bathroom!!

I think white or green. Not pink / peach. They are lovely.

mdinbc · 10/05/2024 21:28

I think it depends on how long you plan to be in your house. Since they are such a personal taste, it could make your house harder to sell in future.

I would do a feature behind the sink or cooktop, then leave the rest neutral.

@Tilelurr I had an avocado suite in my first ĥouse. My friend had a pink one. We used to argue about whose was the worst!

But your home, and you do what you love. If you're planning on staying, then do what makes you happy 😊

Gorgeous tiles though.

crumbpet · 10/05/2024 21:52

What about so out of 9 the middle one is the special tile? So in the middle row every other one is the special one?

I think this looks lovely. Pink and flowers: better than just the flowers!

We have tiled this way before and it looked really nice.

I think the checkerboard with the link looks great! Definitely not a border. It's not the 1980s

ByUmberViewer · 10/05/2024 23:33

I'd pay £400 for that.

It'll last forever - your home is your sanctuary . Go on, get them, you know you want to.

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 10/05/2024 19:59

I think white would look nicer with them (sorry that prob doesn't help)

I agree...or a light green

SeulementUneFois · 10/05/2024 23:44

Sage green looks better with it.
I think that might work chequerboard style - if you can try it with paper??

Zonder · 10/05/2024 23:48

I'd go for sage green not pink too.

artant · 11/05/2024 00:04

A border will always have that 1980s vibe. I’d go for a panel (probably as a splash back for the hob) but I also think they’re something you might go off long before you go off the rest of the kitchen so I’d also consider other (non-fixed) ways of using them (backed with cork as coasters or pot stands for instance) instead.

That's actually genius. I could order a few more sets of samples and make like a wee toaster stand or something and have a few for canisters to stand on.

I think that would work well. tbh I don't think it would be bad just as the backslash if you do the rest of the kitchen in white or sage green. however when I last had my kitchen done the designer absolutely advised against a tiled splashback as the cooking grease can get in between a tiles and you will forever be cleaning them.
I also agree with the previous poster re long term likeability. you have to ask yourself can you bear to look at it for the next 10 years at least
