DS is doing his SATs next week but we haven't really given it any thought. I was a bit thrown because some parents flagged up in a football group that the matches might not go ahead in the afternoons as it was SATs week. I then saw this on Xitter

My advice for any parent of a Y6 who wants to help their child prepare for SATs this weekend:
Go for a walk with them. Paint with them. Bake with them. Send them out with their friends. Read a silly book together. Watch a funny film.
You can't do 4 years of work in 2 days.
Now I'm a bit worried. Are we supposed to be helping them prepare? As I understand it, the significance of the SATs is that some (?) secondary schools use it to predict GCSEs and this might affect their progress 8 scores if the child isn't on track to get those GCSEs so they might be more inclined to support the child to reach those grades (and therefore scoring better in SATs might mean the school helping children reach better grades?) but I'm not sure if I've got that right.
Can anyone illuminate me as I'm feeling a bit lost!
