Arranged a last min park picnic with some friends after DD finishes nursery today as this weather is too glorious to miss!

Fridge is looking rather bare so will need to go to the shops, so whats everyone's go to's for a picnic? Nothing that takes ages to make/assembled as I've only got about 2 hours until pick up!

Pre chopped fruit, plenty of water... your DDs favourite snacks...

Some punnets of fruit, baguette or crackers & cheese (could be babybels or laughing cow), sausage rolls, olives, humus, cherry tomatoes. Just a load of random stuff! Enjoy your picnic!

mindutopia · 09/05/2024 14:05

Scotch eggs, or more those little picnic eggs/the ones without the whole egg in the middle.

Baguette, butter, cheese, ham / deli meat etc, strawberries. Money for the ice cream van.

If you're buying it all:

Tiger baguette
Couple deli fillers , coronation chicken and Egg mayo.
Couple of the packs of the little sausage rolls, pork pies and things like that from the fridge section.
Quiche or two.
Some coleslaw.

LOTS of boxes of Killing cakes..

and pringles...

I'd go to with rolls, cheese, olives, coleslaw - all from the fridge in the shop. Slice up some fruit - apple, melon, strawberries. Could even make fruit kebabs if you have time.

Nacho's and dip.

Crunchymum · 09/05/2024 14:16

It sounds delicious but the OP clearly said she needs to go via the shops.

Cheese and meat rolitos (?spelling)

Can get then from most places (including Aldi). Like Chorizo and Gouda or whatever

Happy meal always goes down a treat.

Ask my.kid what her favourite picnic memory is.
She's 11 now

We've been on hundreds of picnics.
Some with meal deals from Tesco, sarnies, drinks, snack

Some with hand made food that took hours, transported in bags and tupperware.
So on and so on.

The one she remembers best?

The day we sat in the park and ate chicken nuggets, burgers and McFlurries when she was 7. 🤣

It's true. The number of times I've spent a small fortune buying lovely little bits for a picnic. Trying to get the kids to stop playing and ' just eat a little bit'. You end up going home with sweaty cheese, soggy fruit & hungry kids. Now I just pick up a happy meal. They will always eat it and then go off to play. Everyone's happy.

You can’t beat a happy meal!
