There was a feature on Radio 4 a few weeks ago (unfortunately I can’t remember what programme!) and they were discussing a newly released book that talks about the link between relationships/heartache and the onset of disease. I’ve googled like mad but I can’t find anything 😩 does anyone happen to know what I’m talking about?! I can’t remember anything else apart from I THINK it was written by a female scientist…?! I know that’s not much to go on but I’m hoping someone can help me out 😁

TIA!

The Immune Mind by Monty Lyman?

Kaamos · 08/05/2024 08:28

Could it be 'Heartbreak: A Personal and Scientific Journey' by Florence Williams?

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 08/05/2024 08:41

Thank you both, but I don’t think it’s either of those…

Heartbreak by Florence Williams?

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 08/05/2024 12:39

No, I’m pretty sure it’s not the Florence Williams one, that was released in 2022, and I think the one I’m thinking of is a new release. Thank you anyway 😊

It wasn’t ‘Nostalgia’ by Agnes Arnold-Foster, was it? She writes about how yearning was once thought to cause actual physical illness…

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 08/05/2024 17:01

No, I’m pretty sure it’s a new release, and I heard the radio programme around mid/late April.

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far 😁

What time or day was the programme?

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 08/05/2024 17:40

@wwyd2021medicine it would have been a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at some time between 4/5pm…as those are my work days and I heard it in the car on the way home (I think!! Bearing in mind I have have chemo AND menopause brain 😂)

This episode of Inside Science from 16:30 on Thursday 25 April has Florence Williams talking about heartbreak - might be that she mentions another book, or that she discusses her book about heartbreak from 2022

BBC Radio 4 - BBC Inside Science, Can we get plastic waste under control?

The UN attempts a global treaty on plastic, and the science of heartbreak.

(And thank you so much to everyone who already suggested Florence Williams, who I said no to 🙈🙈)

(@Catsinaflat and @Kaamos apologies for dismissing your suggestions…I was convinced it must be a new release, but looks like I was mistaken. Thanks so much for your help 😊)
