Kids under ten - how tidy should their rooms be?

DH is seven, nearly eight. Just getting to the stage of happily playing alone in his room with Lego or figures for a few hours at a time which is great as it keeps him off screens. But this means his floor is covered. He doesn't like cleaning it up because said Lego and figures are seemingly part of an elaborate make believe world which he picks back up the next day/night. What rules does everyone else here have for tidiness levels in bedrooms? Especially as I don't want to dissuade the playing!

It's fine I think to have the elaborate building stuff out for a few days but with a walk way
Firstly to keep his hard work safe from being kicked etc but mainly to stop anyone standing on lego with bare feet .Wow that's a pain never forgotten

Mine spend ages setting up blocks/lego/ magnatiles and never want to dismantle them! I have sympathy tbh because I remember how annoyed I'd be setting something up and having to tidy it all away again before I was ready 😭
I don't mind if the room is a bit messy as long as there's a clear path to walk around.. I often just slide the rug with the stuff on it under one of the beds where I don't have to look at it/step on it... or move the bigger towers onto the windowsill or against the wall. Of course in an ideal world they'd set them up around the edges of the room but they never do!
Now summer's coming they'll be outside more.. less time inside building so tidier house I hope 🤞

I would give him a rug to do it on. Or a tuff spot. But generally when it comes to room tidying I would say at this age most kids do it better if you do it alongside them, like a coach!
