Hi

Does anyone have any home whitening kits or natural whitening recommendations?

I can't spend a fortune but just want to find something that works

Thank you!

Anything sold in the UK cannot legally contain enough peroxide to whiten teeth, there is a few 'dodgy' websites to source from however.

Floralsofa · 07/05/2024 21:14

**I should say illegal unless sold by a dentist.

Serene135 · 07/05/2024 21:14

Isn’t baking powder and lemon juice supposed to work? Not 100% sure though!

Sotired22 · 07/05/2024 21:17

Spotlight whitening strips are good and do work but the effect doesn’t seem to last. I’m saving up for whitening through my dentist (£300)!

BigBadBarri · 07/05/2024 21:18

I’d get the at home teeth moulds then buy the dentist strength whitening gel

I use polarnight 16% and buy it online

edited to say - I got my trays and gels from my dentist, then bought the exact same gel thereafter

Dentists charge about £30 for it!

Rubbish. Any dentist will have products like Phillips zoom

Ok I see you corrected yourself. There are actually dental websites where you can get the products and you don't have to be a dentist to purchase

RhubarbandCustardYummyYummy · 07/05/2024 21:47

Any website that lets you purchase ‘proper’ whitening gels in the UK without being registered as a dentist is not legit.

Those are not run legitimately, the law is clear.

I've heard this! Could be an option but does ruin your teeth potentially!

Great thank you! I may do this, are trays expensive?

I got mine with my dentist so about £300 but I think you can buy the trays pretty cheaply from Amazon, they won’t fit as well as the custom made ones from your dentist but you dip them in hot water then bite down on them to create the moulds

Isitcoffeetime · 08/05/2024 22:29

The crest whitening strips are really good, funnily enough, I had some delivered today :)

It is illegal to sell to the public in the U.K., Europe , NZ and Australia anything containing above 0.1% hydrogen peroxide. Therefore you are buying these strips from someone knowingly breaking the law who has no legitimate way of obtaining genuine strips to sell in the U.K.

Moreover many sites sell strips which have a concentration of hydrogen peroxide which is illegal even for a dentist to use in the U.K. .

So anyone buying these is buying from criminals and you have no guarantee they are what they say they are.

It won't be the exact same gel as it is illegal to sell it to the public in the U.K. , Europe, etc and there is no legitimate way for the seller to obtain the product to sell to you, therefore you have no guarantee it is what it purports to be.

They work because lemon juice is acid so dissolves away stain, enamel and dentine so will destroy tooth , baking powder is abrasive so works like cif on teeth and destroys tooth by abrasion.
Lemon juice and baking powder may be good for cleaning grouting but not teeth.

waitingforthedrain · 08/05/2024 22:58

Some really good advice already on this thread but I just wanted to add-
Please please consider getting this practice credited supervised by a dentist.
Things can and do go wrong. You can develop sensitivity, your gums can be damaged if trays are ill fitting, you can get resorption at the top of the teeth.
It needs supervised to help avoid complications and also, if complications do occur, your dentist can diagnose and
Treat appropriately.
Why oh why would anyone just randomly source something potentially damaging and illegal and place them on one of your body parts.
