Where is a good place to take a 2, 4 and 9 year old for the day? Anywhere in the uk, and I'll travel to wales if needs be.

We went to Brooklands Museum yesterday. Three year old loved it as he's very interested in vehicles. He got to sit in Ayrton Senna's race car, the cockpits of many aircraft and plenty of buses. There were kids of all ages there too, despite the rain.

If it is only for the day, you might be best to be a bit more specific with regard to the area, because travelling four hours each way for a day trip with kids would be my idea of hell.

For Southern England, perhaps Legoland or Thorpe park, depending on your budget.

If it's a bit further a field we will probably stay over for the night somewhere nearby so it's not a whole day of
driving, I went to cornwalls crealy as a kid I mean it was like 20+ years ago but I'd love to go back

Drusillas on the south coast, not too far from Eastbourne would be my absolute first choice if you’re in the Sussex/Kent area. Hastings sea front might be a fun second day if you were planning an overnight trip.

Howletts and Wingham Wildlife Park in Kent are probably the stand out places locally.

We liked Drusillas but lord is it expensive!

In what way? Once you get in? Theres 5 of us and I've just had a look it's £88 (I get in as a carer as my daughter has special needs)

don't get me wrong £88 is a lot of money but compared to the zoo or Alton towers or what not it's quite cheap xx

Forbidden corner in Yorkshire is amazing!

Yeah, it’s not cheap to get in, but if you can take your own lunch, 95% of stuff in there is free, and the facilities for children really are excellent. I think it’s far better value than a lot of attractions, simply because there is so much for them to do there.

TheBirdintheCave · 08/05/2024 07:47

@Lululime2024 Just the tickets really. Our son is three and in most places tickets for him are cheap but tickets for over 2's are the same prices as adults at Drusillas which I find a bit much!

We also eat out everywhere we go. I'm autistic and don't eat outdoors (unless in specific circumstances!) so couldn't bring a picnic. This also adds to the cost for us.

Omg yes. I used to go when I visited my friend in Narberth.

Peabody25 · 09/05/2024 09:28

If you fancied a South Yorkshire trip, gullivers valley theme park, cannon hall farm and Yorkshire wildlife park are all within 50 minutes of each other and each would be a full day out.

Kpo58 · 09/05/2024 09:31

The seaside? Most toddlers love sand and finding/throwing stones. Just need a packed lunch and buy some ice-cream when there and it's the best day ever.

Paultons Park. They are the perfect age, you don't need to like Peppa Pig, there's loads of stuff to do. Pricey though. You may be able to get an access pass to avoid queuing if your child has additional needs.
