Changing euros into sterling

I have ADHD and poor impulse control and lack of organisational skills. A few years ago I withdrew a large number of euros from a cash machine on a whim. I have not travelled since, and won't be travelling for several more years at least.

I want to change this back into sterling and I don't live near a city. How best can I do this? Ive asked at the post office and they can't do it. There's an m&s food hall within travelling distance where you can buy currency. When i have used m&s bureau de change in the past they would buy any unused currency back if you have the receipt. I don't think they just change currency. I have no paperwork for this money bcause it came from an ATM. Will that be a problem?

I live in a tourist area and tourists don't use cash any more so I might have the same problem in a city.

I want to avoid travelling if at all possible as it will require a long journey on buses with DC and a hotel and time off.

I need to take action and not procrastinate. Please can anyone suggest the best course of action? I make many poor and costly decisions and I don't want to make another one here because I could use the money.

Do you have any friends/family who may be going to Europe and could buy them off you? You might be doing them a favour too as if you use the midpoint between the buy and sell rates, you both get a better deal than using a bureau de change.

Otherwise, search for "bureau de change near me" and see what comes up.

Euros and US dollars are the two currencies that I don't change back, but I travel quite a bit and I can understand that if you won't use them in the near future and could use the money now, it makes sense to change them.

Lodge it into your bank account?

The online ones where you post the euros by registered post give the best rates - try FairFX or google best online money exchange. I've changed € to £ many times with them, and got much more than I would have on the High Street/ through the supermarkets/at the Post Office. Money is paid straight into your bank account.

M&S virtual chat suggests they will buy back even without proof of purchase. The difference is that you will only get their current buy back rate, not what you bought them for if that was better and you had a receipt from M&S.

I've changed some USA dollars that I found in an old bag at M&S. No proof of where I got them required.

Put a message on social media asking friends/family/work colleagues if anyone wants to buy any cash euros for their upcoming holidays for the official bank rate (currently 1.1672, which is better than what you'll get on buy back and also better than they'll get themselves).

Even if people generally want to pay by card, you might find a few people who want £50/100 euros for smaller purchases to sell them this way.

Or take them to the M&S bureau as posted by a PP - other supermarkets like Sainsburys also have in store BdC so you might be able to find somewhere near you that is convenient.

Thank you all for your help. I thought about paying it into the bank but I can't unless I open an account in euro and that has to be with barclays and I would need an overnight stay to get to barclays too.

I will try m&s first and if no luck try the postal thing. I have asked everyone but as most people have tourism related jobs they are not going away during the season.

I do appreciate you all taking the time to help me.
