Can anyone recommend a way to build my own website?

I have no idea where to start!! Psychotherapy business. I currently just get referrals from the BACP website but would like to develop a web presence of my own, perhaps with a view to growing the business in the future, attracting online clients (all of mine are currently in person) and perhaps having a feature that will allow clients to book sessions.

Recommendations would be very greatly appreciated

Maybe use something like Wix or Google sites?

WordPress or Squarespace are fairly easy to work with. Wix is a bit more expensive and more complicated but does more, in my experience. I currently use a Wix website that allows people to book and I can take payments. But it's taken a lot of time learning how it all works, as I wanted my own control instead of paying someone to do it. I also use Canva Pro for the design of all my marketing.

Godaddy is really user friendly, and you can use a free photo site like unsplash for graphics.

To go completely against the grain here I find Wix far more user friendly than Go Daddy! I think they all have free options (or low price ones, any way) so maybe give a couple a go before you commit and go live? Good luck 🙂

I've used WIX on several websites and find it very user friendly (I'm self taught). You just have to set aside the time to play with it so you become accustomed with how to use it. It really is worth investing that time because you'll save £££ on paying someone else.

My advice is to keep it very simple, easy to navigate and with some attractive photos.

I used to have 2 WordPress sites but find Wix much easier and more intuitive.

Thanks so much for these recommendations @ASighMadeOfStone @StaySpicy @mildlydispeptic @ownedbymydog @Shetlands

A massage therapist I went to rated squarespace and her website does look good but looks like you guys rate Wix.

Do all of these options sell you a domain name as well?

Another Wix user here (for over 4 years) and am very happy with it. They actually listen to customers suggestions, too.
Very reasonable from a pricing perspective. I did, however have to have a family friends help in designing it in the first place, as for me to get my head round that from the beginning was a bit too much. I can edit and add/change services and pricing etc.. quite easily by my myself now.
Best of all, my customers really like the simplicity of it. They literally Google my area, and the service they are looking for (eg opticians) and I pop up at the top of the searches. A couple of clicks after that and they have booked an appointment. They don't have to bother with an App - and nor do they want to. Good luck!

I use Shopify and can really recommend it. Very user friendly and they have some very good free templates.

Wix is brilliant - so easy to use. Only downside is it's addictive!
