Peak district short break suggestions if you don't have a car

We are planning on long weekend away with a few families and some don't drive. Ive decided on the peak district as it's not too far from us and won't be too expensive to get to.

Looking for suggestions for location to stay which you can get to by train and then don't need a car to do a few things over a long weekend. Any suggestions, would be appreciated. Looking for things that we can do like walking, tea shops, the odd historical place , museum etc. We don't drink so don't care for pubs and will be self catering. Thank you!

They stop at the Fox House - great food! Then you can cross the road to the Longshaw estate. Or walk further along and down for a riverside walk.

Cromford is really nice. But I also love Matlock. Both are good for walks and going to the pub.

I've never thought Buxton was worth going on holiday to, but maybe that's because it's more of a normal place where people live and work (as in not very tourist focused).
