anyone done this or similar? DH really fancies it but I am a bit nervous on boats and think some of the waters could be a bit choppy for me. Hated going over to shetland on the ferry for example

I wouldn’t fancy it. Too many cruising days for me, as well as the potential bad weather.

Not been on this itinerary, but I have heard that the Beagle Channel can be a little bouncy. I think a lot depends on the ship, and Oosterdam is a reasonable size, isn't she? We are sailing on her later this year, so will have a better idea how she moves then. Having said that, a Force 10 in the Sea of Japan was fine on a similar size ship.

I think the stabilization is way better than the smaller ferries, but only you can take a view. I'd suggest looking at some reviews of the itinerary to see what others have experienced there. Sounds fab to me!

Plenty of reviews of cruises on youtube! Just put the name of the cruise in and review. Keeps me well entertained! If you feel you may be sea sick there are tablets/writstbands you can use.

I’d go. I really don’t think you can compare a chunky cruise ship to a Shetlands ferry

AnchorWHAT · 05/05/2024 18:32

Yeah I did realise that the Shetland ferry might not be a good comparison 😂 i just recall feeling very wobbly on it and as if my feet were going wrong, wondered if a bigger cruise ship might feel different, especially on open water, thanks for the responses, i will look up some reviews.

With the stabilization, it works the other way round for me. I'm fine on ship, then when I get back on land, things seem to move much more. Grin The mal de debarkment is real...
