On X/Twitter the name was trending but cant see why or has he quit Repair Shop as saying something about no Christmas special

Redshoeblueshoe · 04/05/2024 23:21

I noticed a headline in a paper yesterday saying his wife had left him due to his abuse. They haven't been married very long

RemarkablyBrightCreature · 04/05/2024 23:25

His uncle was murdered in March and he’s taking some time off to deal with it.

Comfysock · 04/05/2024 23:29

Ah right I bet they film soon for Christmas

They’re in the middle of filming the Christmas special.

Filming has been halted because he can’t commit to it apparently 🤷‍♀️

SleepingisanArt · 04/05/2024 23:40

He's hardly been on the programme recently so I'm sure they can pull something together so that the rest of the team (and the people have their 'treasured possessions ' restored) aren't left in the lurch.

His wife has issued a statement. I can't save it so I hope this link works, her post is towards the end of the article: I wanted him to love me, but it got worse so I grabbed a bag and left, says Jay Blades' wife after revealing shock split | The Sun
She says "nothing gives you the right to put your hands on another person". I hope that person is not her and she's ok. And, if he has put his hands on another person - her or someone else, why is this not being reported more widely?

I wanted him to love me, but it just got worse so I left, says Jay Blades' wife

THE wife of TV’s Repair Shop star Jay Blades announced the end of their marriage yesterday — saying: “I grabbed a bag of a few things and just left.” Fitness guru Lisa, 43, wed the BBC presenter, …

Not really any of your business, though is it? What possible benefit would be conferred to you, @Comfysock , knowing this?
Do you want to know why everyone splits - are you on here asking why the Jones-Smythes from the other end of town split, or similarly, the manager of the co-op in an outer mongolian village?
No, just being nosey because they are famous, and as such, fair game for a pop, and the requirement to tell you every aspect of their (private) business?

Why would there need to be a benefit to knowing something? Its perfectly normal to be interested in the lives of others and even more so when those others are in the public eye

The wife in this couple has freely posted on SM, of course people will wonder what's happened

VestibuleVirgin · 14/05/2024 06:20

They can announce a split. The reasons for this are their business, and theirs only. There is aa difference between interest and nosiness.
No-one has a tight to other's private life, be they in the public eye or not.

You’re talking about someone who makes a living being in the ‘public eye’, and announces their split in the ‘public eye’. Also, if a bloke has physically hurt his partner then he loses all rights to anonymity.

PickledPurplePickle · 14/05/2024 06:31

I read he is taking some time off following his split from his wife and the murder of his beloved uncle

But it still doesn't give you the right to know the reason.
And using your hands on a woman logic, you would need an announcement of all splits concerning violence, men and women, so the rest of the world can avoid a relationship with them. Which of course is impossible.
People in public eye still have a right to privacy

AGlinnerOfHope · 14/05/2024 06:54

I think people have a right to know if people are not what they seem. People engage with programmes, invest time in them, because they like the presenters. If you hear the presenter has behaved badly, you go off the programme.

augustusglupe · 14/05/2024 07:45

His wife said he was abusive. I would imagine that’s why it’s thrown the programme into chaos.

That's like saying you vote for the best looking person rather than the party.
If you enjoy a programme, surely it's the content that engages you rather than the person,
The nation almost collapsed when Mel, Sue and Mary left bake-off and it had the audacity to move to C4. Yet, it survived and thrived.
If you invest that much time in stranger's lives, there is something missing in yours

I don’t. But people do and I understand that.
I haven’t heard of this chap and haven’t watched the programme.

For some people, the tv personalities are like family members. The system is set up to create that vibe. It’s what drives their careers and the programmes’ success.

You're speaking for yourself not every TV viewer, why do think there's such a furore over the presenters of This Morning or whatever the ITV breakfast TV news programme is called

People could watch any morning news programme as the news is the same but it's very usual to choose the presenters you like best

Your sneering about bake off viewers suggests you don't understand that people are different to you

I was not sneering; what a ridiiculous point. I said the world didn't end, which given the fuss at the time, proves that programmes can be as popular with other presenters in place.
And naturally, I am not speaking for every viewer; don't be silly

Wheredidallthecowboysgo · 14/05/2024 17:28

Oh dear, this doesn’t sound good. And as others have said if it’s abusive behaviour it deserves to be called out. It most certainly affects how I view that person.

BamaKat71 · 28/05/2024 03:30

This is lisa Blades Instagram where she put up about Jay's physical abuse for 18mos

Yes he does. Clare's Law.

Blimey, just seen the latest news.

Saturdayblurs · 13/09/2024 14:47

Would be nice to have a block feature for certain posters.
