Etiquette - those threading places in shopping centres

Hello all

If you're at one of those places in shopping centres where they thread your eyebrows etc what do you think of people coming up to the lady whilst she is in the middle of doing your treatment and asking her "how much is it for brows?" or "how long will you be with this person/when should I come back?"

I find it quite rude. Both towards the lady by interrupting her whilst she's working on someone's face and also towards me who's sitting in the chair, having my (painful) treatment interrupted (as she invariably stops threading to look up and answer their question) and therefore it all takes longer for me.

Is the threading lady being rude? How should she handle it?

I ask because in the space of a 10 minute treatment today, we were interrupted THREE separate times.

I suppose this would not happen if I went to an actual beauty therapist with individual treatment rooms but I do find the ladies in the shopping centre who do it full time much faster, better and cheaper so I may need to compromise!

Thanks for your thoughts.

It’s not the kind of environment where you can expect an uninterrupted appointment. I do think it’s rude, but I wouldn’t choose to have my brows done in that environment where it’s likely to happen. I suppose it’s no different from a hairstylist stopping to go and answer the phone, I find that pretty rude too tbh, but accept it’s necessary for a small business.

Never been to any of those places, but it seems fine to me.

She ought to have a price list, which would then avoid (most) customers asking about the price of X.

What do you expect these prospective clients to do? Just stand there silently until she's finished with you?

Yes, I'd expect them to wait 2 minutes till she's free. Is displaying a tiny amount of patience really such an unacceptable thought?

She does have a price list on a board and a pile of leaflets. But I think most people cba looking.

Yes, I'd expect them to wait until she's between customers to ask a question. Not when she's 2cm from my face, pulling hairs out!
