Are these worrying symptoms

On Tuesday I picked DS up and I heard a clicking sound in my back and since then I’ve been in terrible pain. I can barely walk. If I try to stand I get like a locking sensation where I can’t move and I’m sure I can feel my back contracting? The pain is on my left side only. I also have pins and needles type pain in my left thigh and occasional stabbing pains.

I haven’t tried to stand up today as I’m still in bed but when I’ve been moving around in bed the pain seems to be a bit better.

I don’t know if this is connected to the back pain but when I woke up this morning I realised I haven’t had an urge to wee since around dinner time yesterday despite me drinking a lot. I’ve had a lot to drink because I’ve been feeling awfully sick and have stomach cramps and having drinks help the cramps and nausea for a little while. I’ve lost my appetite too but DP and both DC have been vomiting so I presume I’ve caught something off them. I think maybe I do have a stomach bug but just one that doesn’t cause D or V because the symptoms started 2 days ago?

Just wondering if anyone could help as I feel like I’ve got a hundred different symptoms!

I'd phone 111. Be prepared for a long wait

Have you had any difficulty passing urine/poo? If you have you need to get to A&E pretty sharpish. If not, could be a slipped disc, or muscle spasms. I would call 111 and see what they say.

@Cadela i have been constipated but wondering that’s because ive not eaten much the past few days. I wouldn’t say difficulty passing urine as I haven’t tried because I haven’t been feeling like I need one if that makes sense

I'd go to A&E any back pain that effects your bowel groin area needs checking out.

Go now before sports injurys start arriving. It will be quite ish now.

Cadela · 04/05/2024 09:07

With those symptoms you need to go to A&E this morning. It could be cauda equina which is a very serious condition. Likely to not be but you do need checking out.

frozendaisy · 04/05/2024 09:09

Right now on our local a&e there are 0 patients waiting for assessment 22 in a&e overall, average time in a&e 4 1/2 hours.

Go now OP.

It's probably a slipped disc that needs painkillers and physio but it needs seeing to. I had sciatica year and a half ago and was told any numb feeling in groin go straight to a&e and it's that part that is a raised flag

Danieltiger21 · 04/05/2024 09:14

I’ve just had a wee but didn’t feel like I needed one before I went

Good decision. Hope you’re not waiting to long and can get sorted

I’m back now. All my obs were fine, the dr had a feel of my stomach and back and I did a urine sample and that came back normal. She said she thinks it’s muscular and sent me on my way with naproxen
