Do you open the door of the dishwasher when cycle finished to improve drying or do they dry better with the door closed?

I normally leave it closed but someone told me that they open it to let the steam out.
My dishwasher is a 20 year old Bosch.
Any thoughts?

My dishwasher opens its own door when it’s finished washing and drying 😮

Open it, rest a tea towel on the door with the majority of the tea towel in the dishwasher. Close the door for 30-60mins you'll be amazed how dry the pots are.

I'm not sure I understand this suggestion. Do you mean to only slightly open it and cover the gap with a team towel?

So open the door and hang a tea towel on the door (with the majority of the tea towel inside the machine and close the door so it traps the tea towel in place. The dry tea towel absorbs the steam and moisture inside the dishwasher so things dry much quicker. Like this

I open, hang a tea towel inside and shut the door. Dries so fast that way

With our dishwasher, leaving it closed definitely results in a better drying experience. The residual heat dries the dishes.

We were told by the kitchen designer to leave the door closed as escaping steam can damage the underside of the worktop. 🤷‍♀️

So with Miele, their integrated dishwashers equipped with AutoOpen Drying create a protective cushion of warm air under the benchtop for a while before opening the door. This warm air is enough to prevent the steam from inside the wash cabinet causing damage to the benchtop. Pretty cool! My Miele dishwasher (freestanding) sticks out a bit so when it opens there's no way it'll damage the benchtop either way!

I have never opened mine after running it and they're usually dry... but probably because I don't unload it for like 3 business days afterwards

I open the door and stop the cycle as an economy because I thought electricity still being used when drying? I'd be pleased to stop doing this as I'm not best keen on a kitchen full of steam.
