Love this house, however it seems overpriced. Also not sure who would buy it, seems too big for your average family and not an area where it could work as a b&b/ guesthouse

That is gorgeous!

MyLovelyPurse · 03/05/2024 10:14

It’s awful. No character at all. It looks like it was furnished from an Argos catalogue in a hurry in 2005.

qwertyqwertyqwertyqwerty · 03/05/2024 10:17

Furniture goes with the vendor Hmm

It's a lovely house.

widgitfidgit · 03/05/2024 10:18

I would worry the fields opposite could be built on as well

mynewusername2023 · 03/05/2024 10:19

8 toilets to clean!

passtheajax · 03/05/2024 10:19

I bit big I think. All those bathrooms to clean 😱

It's alright if you want a large house I guess. At least it has a garden.

gingercat02 · 03/05/2024 10:21

Bet it gets hacked into flats or a care home.

It would be a beautiful home with a bit of tlc.
If I had the money, I would love a huge house as unlike most of MN, I love having guests

You can look at local plan for a sense of allocations, it's not that easy to build on unallocated land (system might change).

Giggorata · 03/05/2024 10:24

It looks nice from the outside and I regard the inside as a blank slate, with all those bland pastels. The rooms look big.
It wouldn't be my choice for that money.

UneTasse · 03/05/2024 10:26

It's been somewhat over-restored, and has pretty much all the character sucked out of it - I'd be interested to see what it looked like pre-restoration. Might have been a complete wreck. In theory it's a very beautiful house - I don't think it's too big at all (my house is microscopic - I'd be PERFECTLY happy to learn to adapt to a big house!).

It looks like a new build in a lot of ways. They can't sell it either - been on the market for 2 years.

Superlambaanana · 03/05/2024 10:26

It's like an old people's home. One of those communal old age living experiments and the inhabitants have all died off or killed each other over fights about whether you can put your knife into the jam jar or it has to be removed with a spoon. You those who like this, what on earth must your own homes be like?! 🤮

🤣🤣🤣

it has potential to be lovely. The outside is very striking, but the inside is a clunky layout with completely soulless decor.

UneTasse · 03/05/2024 10:40

I don't understand it at all. It MUST be a new build, surely? The rooms have chimneybreasts though. But the doors and windows are all modern, the brickwork is pristine, and the room proportions don't seem right.

Obviously the furniture and bathrooms are appalling, but that's not a big deal - it just feels like to ACTUALLY have a Georgian house you'd be spending as much to replace everything as you would if you bought a wreck.

...
From a bit of nosing on google, it was built in the early 1900's, and sold in 2006 for £172k, and probably in very poor condition.

widgitfidgit · 03/05/2024 10:42

The owners would probably have more luck if they changed it into flats

Gettingbysomehow · 03/05/2024 10:45

Urghhh so much beige.
It would be ok if you had 10 children I guess.

AllIWantToDo · 03/05/2024 11:01

That enormous family who must not be named on MN would be the only potential buyer I know...

mindutopia · 03/05/2024 11:21

No, I don't like it. It's pretty boring and doesn't have any character. We have a house about that price, a couple less bedrooms, more land and a lot more character in beautiful surroundings. I wouldn't pay that much money for something a bit sterile that looks like it could just be divided up into flats.

MiddleAgedDread · 03/05/2024 12:01

I have serious home office envy but apart from that it's doing nothing for me and if I had the best part of a million to spend on property I wouldn't be living in Penketh!!

Oh I assumed it was nice. I'm not from the area (although not too far away) A friend sent this to me as she's looking a this town and a few surrounding areas.

Lovely "bones" but so boring and cream. That sort of grand house is crying out for a good dollop of colour.

LindorDoubleChoc · 03/05/2024 12:46

I don't like it. It looks like it was originally a school or prison or some sort of institution?

Just have a look on google maps. The front door literally opens onto the carpark of a day nursery.
