Totally contrived for him to be the story. Prick.

I'm actually serious. I can totally understand why the average mn person isn't a fan, I don't think they have a lot in common but they also tend to have a childlike grasp of how the world works.

At least the average MN person recognises a liar

He's a highly educated and articulate man, of course it was either his attempt at humour or a PR stunt. I wish he was still PM, apart from the gender issues, I think he did a good job.

Confused He did a dreadful job, he was completely chaotic.

Grin love the idea that MNers are too childlike to fully grasp Johnson's lies policies.

Because your DH wasn’t the person who brought this in as a new law?

Don't laws need to be passed in parliament? Voting ID has been mentioned several times, I know you obviously hold BJ in high regard but I don't think it was solely his idea but many people wanting ID to stop voting fraud.

It's cute you think it was brought in to stop fraud. You presumably also believe in fairies?

There was basically no fraud.

It was brought in to make it harder for certain groups of people to vote.

It’s was a PR stunt

I think so too. It certainly worked.

Anything to stay current.

What groups are these people? Who can't vote? There was free ID, lots of awareness, postal votes?

Most of the established countries in the world use ID for voting, its really a non- issue, sweetheart.

Edited

Well the Tories hoped it would be those they consider too thick to get themselves organised, the ones they might patronising call sweetheart, but it actually turned out to be older Tory voters who expect to be able to turn up and vote the way they always have.

A fantastic example of getting what you deserve.

This has made my day. This should be his new name.

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/05/2024 20:28

No he didn’t. He needs publicity.

Hmm not so sure. Although it clearly worked to get his name in the news again, I think 9 out of 10 people understand it’s a contrived load of old nonsense, to… get his name in the news. It was so obviously done on purpose.

So all it’s achieved for him, is to remind everyone what a conceited, one dimensional idiot he is.

Either his 'people' sent out a press note about this, or there just happened to be a reporter queuing to vote behind him and observed the faux pas. How else could this become known?

I reckon a reporter was tipped off by his team about the time he’d be voting, although they’d already know where he was going to vote so they could’ve sent a reporter/photographer to get a pic and he decided to do this so they had an actual story to report with the pic.

To be fair I know people in his new village and front government work.....he seems to have been pretty capable of getting lost etc but not on this kind of thing.

The man is a shrewd calculator by all accounts. This will definitely have been accidentally-on-purpose

JT69 · 03/05/2024 20:42

Deliberate I’d say. The days dead cat story to divert us away from the Tory election disaster and a bit of self promotion. For the record he was an appalling PM and is instrumental in dragging us into the pit we are now in.

DojaPhat · 03/05/2024 20:44

The weird thing about this voter ID requirement is that it does alienate quite significant bunch of different groups who to all intents and purposes would walk on broken glass to cast their vote for the tories.

It’s almost like their attempted gerrymandering backfired on them, eh Jacob?

Bit like Johnson forgetting his ID which fooled no one.

Quite poetic actually.
