Taylor Swift tickets sent via ticketmaster

Hi everyone, I know there are lots of Taylor Swift ticket scams going around so I just wanted to check. If someone says they have tickets and can transfer them to you via ticketmaster, is that still likely to be a scam? How is it a scam? I've never really used ticketmaster so am not sure whether this is real or not. Probably not, I suspect.

You would buy them through the Ticketmaster site itself, but you won't know who is selling them to you. So it is the site you use, not the person. (If that makes sense). So, yeah, this does not sound legit.

RollOnSpringDays · 02/05/2024 21:09

It’ll be a scam, they all say this.

WarshipRocinante · 02/05/2024 21:11

Don’t buy them. They’re all a scam.

That’s exactly why it sounds dodgy. If a person claims they’ve bought them on Ticketmaster and will transfer them after receiving payment, it’s definitely dodgy. They just sell them on the Ticketmaster resale site.

Thanks everyone. Shame though!

I have googled and could see that you can transfer tickets through ticketmaster safely. But that is to share with friends, with no option to pay. So there would be huge risk for
someone selling their tickets like that, wouldn't there. Especially when they would be snapped up instantly on the open market.

Do the scammers ask for payment first and then just not send anything? Is that what the transferring through ticketmaster scam is?

I've done this with my friend. She bought seated tickets for Coldplay, then bought standing tickets for a better experience. I transferred the cost of the seated tickets to her, and she transferred the tickets to me on the ticket master app.

I wouldn't do this with a random though, only someone I know in real life and trust!

WhatDaPoint · 02/05/2024 22:51

The tickets aren't actually sent to the ticket holders until, just before the show so you would have to pay the -scammer- seller and then just hope that they will send you the tickets once they are released.

Anyone who wanted to sell tickets would just sell them to friends or family or would sell them to ticket basket.

Said this on another thread but worth repeating.

As it stands with tickets purchased on Ticketmaster it is not possible to send someone tickets, this functionality will be available closer to the time I believe. So if someone says they will be sending you tickets imminently then it's a massive red flag.

This is how the tickets appear in my account, as you can see transfer is not available and the barcodes will not be functional until 3 days before (I have heard rumours it will be a moving QR code to prevent screenshots being shared). The "Sell" button will upload them to the general resale platform, not allow me to choose a specific individual. Not sure how it works with AXS, but I think it's similar. The fact of the matter is that demand hugely outstrips supply for the Eras Tour, there is no easy way to safely get tickets because it is sold-out and many fans are obsessively refreshing the resale site in hopes of snapping up the few tickets being returned.

Thanks everyone. And if the tickets don't even have a transfer option just yet, that's the final confirmation of yet another scam. I don't know how people can bring themselves to be so dishonest 😞

I think you really need to accept that you won’t get tickets unless you’re lucky enough to be refreshing the official resell when some come up.

If anyone has any tickets to sell, they’ll transfer them to a friend or family at the time if it is enabled or sell them officially through the resale feature. They won’t need to sell to strangers.

Anyone selling Swift tickets is scamming.

It's sad, but there are indeed a lot of scams involving concert tickets these days. If you're buying tickets, be very cautious. Many people fall victim to scams, and it's crucial to double-check where you're buying these tickets from. Here's an article about Ticketmaster scams that might help: https://help-center.pissedconsumer.com/ticketmaster-scams/ . Always use the official platform and verify all details before making a purchase.
