Please tell him to try soolantra. He may be able to get it from Superdrug online to save waiting for a GP appointment

Thank you for this post - alcohol isn't a trigger for me, now testing whether sugar is. Tried the azelaic acid - it helps the spots when they come up but doesn't prevent them.
Dh, who also suffers, recently saw an eye doctor who suggested using an eye wash on his eyes and said that people with rosacea often find it improves their skin too - I wonder if it kills the mites some posters have mentioned - I'm going to try this next https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZBLWJFQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use that for my eyes it's excellent as I get gritty / dry eyes. Do you mean use it on your skin?

Hello. Everyone's roseaca is different and their skin will respond in different ways. I have tried all sorts of stuff including antibiotic gel so I have my "recipe" that works for me.

But I would recommend that anyone with roseaca uses the best sunblock you can afford EVERY time you go outdoors.

Wear a hat.

Wear sunglasses.

Clean your face with almond or grapeseed oil.

Argan Organics make a roseaca balm that really helps when my face flares up. Works for me but may not be effective for everyone.

Hope you find something that helps. It really is an almighty PITA.

The eye doctor just said she recommended it for her patients with rosacea who have gritty eyes but they reported back that it improved their skin too. Not sure how they used it, I’m using it on my nose and chin too. I look like a spotty teen, so I’m feeling a bit desperate.

https://www.skinshop.co.uk/kalme - no experience personally but this range has good reviews.

I have been using this day cream for years and it has really improved my rosacea - highly recommend!

Interesting, hope it works for you 🤞

Dermatica prescription of ivermectin, metronidazole and niacinamide has really helped mine.

They also do a non-prescription Azelaic acid treatment cream which I have found additionally helpful.

As a moisturiser on top of these formulations I have found a face oil with calendula in it really helps too.

is there a difference in treatment between those who have red skin and those who’ve had the pustules. I ask because I’ve never had the red skin reaction just the spotty reenactment of my teenage years. I never would have guessed Rosacea had it not been for dh having it - initially I though it was cold sores.

SaraSosej · 05/05/2024 07:03

Soolantra was the only thing that worked for me. It’s not instant from what I remember, probably took a couple of months. I’ve never had it bad again so highly recommend it.

I had postules and reddish skin. I’ve been clear for about 5 years, I just avoid my triggers to avoid another flare up- heat and too much alcohol.

KatPurrson · 05/05/2024 07:59

Oh and a friend also told me to avoid red foods (tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, dragon fruit, raspberries) and whilst I was initially skeptical I gave it a go out of desperation and it did work.

I get a flare any time I eat one of them so I stick to yellow tomatoes, yellow or green peppers and blueberries now. I am fine with oranges but recently aged some blood oranges and got a flare so I guess there maybe is some nutrient or other common to red foods involved.

Any way, working out food triggers can be helpful.
