Exhausted after eating

I've had a full on morning at work. I didn't have time for breakfast (not unusual for me), so only had a cup of tea before I left. I've had a bottle of water this morning, so was really hungry when it got to lunchtime.
I've had a bowl of porridge (half water half milk) with some fresh raspberries and a piece of wholemeal toast with peanut butter. I've just gone on a work call and I can feel myself yawning. I could literally fall asleep at my desk.
Is this related to what I've eaten? It's happened really quickly, so not sure how much it is connected

Yes - so many carbs often makes you tired.. blood sugar probably soared too...

Any chance you are pregnant? I was like that after eating lunch with both pregnancies, complete and utter exhaustion. Only really happened after lunch - funny. It was my main sign that I was pregnant the second time.

I would assume it has more to do with having had such a full on morning that you didn't even have time to eat.

You will get a big sugar spike from the porridge, raspberries and toast then your blood sugar will rapidly fall causing the tiredness. Try having a less carb heavy breakfast e.g eggs, fish, cheese, yoghurt etc and you will find you have a lot more energy.

Ok thanks, so maybe I need to rethink my food choices. I tend to think as oats and wholemeal bread as decent foods, but yes maybe too carb and sugar heavy.
Definitely not pregnant, post menopause and am 58!

I suspect it's a combination of skipping breakfast, a busy morning and a fairly carb heavy lunch.

If I skip breakfast and go straight to lunch I feel awful - I'm one of those who needs to eat little and often.

As others said it probably was the food but I also get similar if I am dehydrated. I literally want to put my head down on my desk and sleep if I haven't drank much that day.

Dehydration may be important then. I realised after my first meeting I was thirsty, grabbed a bottle of water on the way to next meeting, but that was it, so maybe that okayed a part too.
