Let's talk about clothes pegs!

I thought I'd treat myself to some new clothes pegs (oh my exciting life!) and they're crap. They've got a nice strong springy grip and rubbery bits but they slide on the line.

It's not the line as my cheap old pegs (4 left!) grip it absolutely fine. To add insult to injury, my old pegs cost something like £3 for about 50 including the little basket they came in and I can't find them anywhere now 😞

Any recommendations for pegs that don't slip?

They’re amazing though. They last forever

And they’re really grippy

Home Bargains plastic pegs are great.

DatingDinosaur · 30/04/2024 20:39

Lots of recommendations for Minky pegs from B&M. I can feel a trip there tomorrow coming on (it's practically next door to where I work).

As much as those Pincinox pegs look fabulous - ouch! What an eye-watering price! I'd want them to iron my laundry as well for that price 😂

I went back to wooden pegs- plastic ones get brittle with age, even if you take them in after every wash. Which I do, because my mother judged those who didn't as slatternly.

Metal clothes pegs £7ish for 50

@mitogoshi yep I agree, tescos wooden ones last a long time even when your a heathen like me and leave them on the line all year round.

Now if anyone has tips on how to stop the washing turning itself into a rope wrapped around the washing line I am all ears 👂

Nat6999 · 30/04/2024 23:56

I've bought wooden ones from a local independent shop, proper dolly pegs.

DiscoBeat · 01/05/2024 00:01

I tried plastic ones once but they got brittle in the UV light and snapped. Not very eco friendly either! I'm happy with the wooden ones, from John Lewis. Lasted for years. I always bring them in so they don't stay out in the rain.

Minky pegs in B&M stores, best pegs ever.

I've bought these recently, love them!

Onynx · 01/05/2024 00:41

Minky Suregrip for sure - Tesco have them too😊

marshmallowfinder · 01/05/2024 00:48

I got the Lakeland flower ones and they're excellent.

chaticat · 01/05/2024 06:47

Why are the Minky ones "all weather"? You'd only use them when it was dry!

bidon · 01/05/2024 06:55

Hello Dave.

sandgrown · 01/05/2024 07:01

Another vote for Lakeland pegs but I am coveting a Minky retractable clothes line 😂

Maybe because some people leave the on the line all the time?

EasilyDeterred · 01/05/2024 07:08

I’m definitely one for shortcuts in life and don’t mind the appearance of pegs on the line ( I do it if i dash out in the rain and forget to take my peg bag out with me) but when I have left them there I find it takes longer pegging things out than when I’ve got them in the bag as they are all in the wrong places. I keep them in a cross body peg bag so they are with me as I move from basket to line and back again and it hangs on a hook just inside the back door.

Thanks MaleHuman, they look good.

For anyone who was invested in this thread 😆 I got Minky ones in the end. They are super grippy - haven't had to chase my laundry up the street in high winds yet!

Flower ones from Lakeland are fantastic.

DeedlessIndeed · 13/09/2024 15:53

I have these. They are great. I think they have a 25 year warranty so I figure they'll be worth it over the long run.

I've left them out on the line over a few scottish winters (I am lazy) and they're still good as new. Also they keep heavy items like towels on the line even on very gusty days.

They are a bit pricey, but I'm a firm believer in trying to buy good quality things that will last.
