Let's talk about clothes pegs!

I thought I'd treat myself to some new clothes pegs (oh my exciting life!) and they're crap. They've got a nice strong springy grip and rubbery bits but they slide on the line.

It's not the line as my cheap old pegs (4 left!) grip it absolutely fine. To add insult to injury, my old pegs cost something like £3 for about 50 including the little basket they came in and I can't find them anywhere now 😞

Any recommendations for pegs that don't slip?

Minky pegs in B&M stores, best pegs ever.

DolceGustoooohCoffee · 30/04/2024 19:43

Mine are from Poundland, I think they come in packs of 20 for about £1.99, never had issues, they're the multicoloured plastic ones that you can't leave in the sunshine or they crumble like honeycomb but other than that they do the job.

Yeah, my old ones were from somewhere like Poundland or B&M. Possibly Wilcos. It was that long ago I honestly can't remember! For cheap pegs that I mainly bought for the little basket they came in, they've been brilliant and lasted ages.

I'll take a look at the Lakeland ones - there's a Lakeland store within driving distance near me so I can have a proper look/feel of them 😂

These new ones are going to be relegated to food bag clips.

These.

What benefit do eg the lakeland ones have over wooden ones?

EasilyDeterred · 30/04/2024 20:13

Wooden ones, we've tried a few plastic types over the years and always come back to these, they do the job perfectly and last for ever

booktokbear · 30/04/2024 20:15

I 3rd the minky pegs. Best I've ever had.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 30/04/2024 20:15

I bought slightly posher pegs in Asda, thought I was treating myself. They were useless. After three loads of washing, I chucked them all away and replaced them with Asda's cheapest variety.

Shinyandnew1 · 30/04/2024 20:15

Those are the ones I use. So much better than any other plastic pegs that either break or slide off the line or wooden ones which go manky or break apart!

TooManyNiblings · 30/04/2024 20:18

I just bought some cheap ones in Asda and they are rubbish!! Also slide on the line, but I will use them in the middle of clothes as I have enough of my old ones still.

DatingDinosaur · 30/04/2024 20:20

I've had wooden ones in the past and they weren't up to much. Maybe they've improved?

What do you mean by in the middle please?

mitogoshi · 30/04/2024 20:23

Tesco wooden ones, cheap, mostly biodegradable when they inevitably break

Mwnci123 · 30/04/2024 20:26

I have some fabulous stainless steel ones. Not cheap but they grip well and are invincible.

SallyWD · 30/04/2024 20:26

Minky pegs! They're excellent! You can get them from Amazon, Argos, B and M. I put my washing out today in very strong winds. I used to use wooden pegs and when it was very windy clothes would fly off the line! And the wooden pegs were always breaking. Minky pegs are so robust. They have a very strong grip and held everything firmly in place.

SusanSHelit · 30/04/2024 20:27

I got some all plastic pegs (even the springy bit is plastic) from B&m, they have a little flower pattern on the top and rubber grips that grip the line. Best pegs ever

I use my good ones on either side seam of a t-shirt, say, then use one of the rubbish ones in the middle as they are none marking.

I might try that thanks might help things keep their shape a bit better

Ineedwinenow · 30/04/2024 20:31

I use the good old wooden dolly pegs, Amazon do a pack for about a fiver or about 2 quid from places like home bargains, the ones with springs in don’t last long in my house but dolly pegs last ages

chaticat · 30/04/2024 20:34

OOOOOOH they are nice.

allthevitamins · 30/04/2024 20:35

I also have minky pegs from B&M.

I 'invested' a few years ago now because I use them a lot.

A couple have twisted apart but they're probably 95% still going strong.

No crumbling or snapping and they don't mark the clothes like I was finding with wooden ones.

allthevitamins · 30/04/2024 20:36

I also have a hills hoist rotary line... cost over £100 but comfortably holds 4 loads of washing, 6 at a squeeze on a warm day!!
