Any Tips for Child Vomiting Bug?

So as a disclaimer, I have just spoken to the doctor who isn’t worried and told me to continue as I am.

Hive mind of Mumsnet, any tips for my almost 6 year old to recover from a sickness bug?

Started late Saturday afternoon with a couple of vomits and the all night vomiting and diarrhoea.

Sunday he was sick every couple of hours but drinking plenty. Woke 3 times over Sunday night to be sick. Was last sick 11am yesterday and was drinking plenty but still quiet. Manage a few spoons of soup that he asked for.

Thought we had turned the corner! He was a bit retchy this morning but said he was hungry. He had an egg, scrambled and ate it over the course of about half an hour. A couple of hours later he asked for grapes and he ate a couple.

He had just now brought the whole lot back up 😩
Hes still really quiet, still drinking but doesn’t want to eat. Is there anything else I can do? He’s already a skinny thing and hadn’t quite got his appetite back from a bout of croup 2 weeks ago. He’s wasting away in front of my eyes 😢

We always do the BRAT diet for a few days after a sick bug (bananas, rice, apple, toast).

We will try that. Thank you ☺️

Cream crackers, crisps and ice lollies are my go to's.

As PP's have said, boring, dry, untroubling food.
We always start with a banana, some dry toast (or lightly buttered), and apple sauce if we can find some of those Ella's Kitchen pouches in the supermarket.

Crisps as mentioned above are a good idea (get some salt back into him).

I'd save meat, fish, dairy, and eggs until a few days after the last vom.

Water based ice lollies are good to start with.

No milk! And minimal dairy. D&V bugs can cause children to become temporarily lactose intolerant so dairy will prolong the vomiting (speak from experience)

Dry toast and ice or ice lollies sucked slowly.
Hope he feels better soon. Feeling sick is wretched.
