Are there many election posters near you? Do they work?

So like many parts of the country this week my local council has elections. And as usual there has been a low level of campaigning with candidates going house to house but not much else.

There are however election posters up in windows and on sticks on garden fences etc- orange Liberal Democrats winning here, I'm voting Labour type things but no Tory posters. And in my ward, at least, the Tories always win - with approx 1,500 Con votes, and 1,000 each for the other main parties - despiyte being least visible.

(For context its a council with no overall control but Lib Dems biggest party and Labour and Conservatives on similar but neither realistically able to gain enough to take over)

Does anyone have any insight into whether they actually work? Do they remind people its an election? Does it make people switch? Has there been any research?

Dunno about research but I always put a poster up to stop other parties door knocking. I love in a safe safe safety safe rural blue seat so GEs are dull but locals do get debate. Our council is v like yours but I honestly don't want to talk potholes or livestock worrying with earnest LibDems on the doorstep. Though I appreciate the efforts they put in when elected.
